Here's more info on our annual "LEAD to Safety" Day and Bike Rodeo for our Bath area residents:

This event combines our both our efforts with the L.E.A.D. program in our schools as well as focusing on bicycle and pedestrian, and other, safety information. It is geared towards our youth but all ages are welcome.

We have over a dozen bikes of various sizes to raffle off as well as free bike helmets and other fun giveaways. Kids can bring their own bikes to test out their skills on our bike rodeo course.

This event is being held at the American Legion Smith-Tobey Post 21 on Congress Ave and it will be held rain or shine. We'd love to see everyone there.

🔥FREE Life-Saving Devices for Oxygen Users🔥
Thanks to a generous grant from the Society of Fire Protection Engineers - New England Chapter, Bath Fire & Rescue has 250 thermal shut-off valves available to give away for FREE to our community!

These small but powerful devices are designed to automatically stop the flow of oxygen if downstream tubing catches fire, helping to prevent serious injury or worse. Whether you're using nasal cannulas, masks, or any other oxygen delivery method, this device adds an extra layer of protection – at no cost to you.

📌 Key Benefits:
✅ Automatically shuts off oxygen flow in case of fire
✅ Helps prevent oxygen tubing fires
✅ Installs in seconds - now bidirectional for easier setup
✅ 4-year intended life or until activation
✅ A FREE way to lower risk and protect lives

If you or someone you know uses home oxygen, don’t wait - message us here, stop by the station or call us at 443-5034 to pick one up while supplies last. Help us spread the word and share this post!
➡️ These devices are available, FREE of charge, to residents of Bath as well as anyone in the Midcoast area who could benefit. Let’s work together to keep our community safe!

We have a few temporary street closures or minor traffic disruptions taking place this weekend into next week.

To start off, this Sunday, May 3 (weather permitting), the Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Transportation committee and Bath at Play, in conjunction with the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, is hosting an event for National Ride A Bike Day, downtown under the bridge on Commercial St at Bridge Park. This event will shut down Commercial Street from the welcome center/train station to the intersection of Commercial St and Lambard St. between 11am and 2pm. See https://www.bikemaine.org/event/bath-bike-party-open-street/ #:~:text=TLDR;%20Location:%20Bridge%20Park%2C,Add%20to%20calendar Traffic will need to detour around this area for those few hours.

Secondly, there are a number of streets scheduled for paving projects that will close streets down to one lane with traffic flaggers. These areas include portions of Winter St, Adam Ct, Heath Lane, Drayton Rd, Cummings St, Mast Landing, Drummond Pt, and Bluff Rd. These projects start soon, but could be impacted by weather delays. Please use caution in construction areas.
