🚗 MaineCare covers Non-Emergency Transportation (NET) for eligible members. You may get a ride to your MaineCare-covered appointment or have your ride reimbursed by MaineCare.

‼️Make sure to make an appointment at least 2 business days in advance and check that it is covered by MaineCare and approved by the transportation broker.

❓What if I have a complaint?
Contact the transportation broker in your region and file a complaint. If you would like a response from the broker, you must request a follow-up call or a response in writing. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can call MaineCare Member Services at 1-800-977-6740 and request to file a complaint against the broker.

For 45 years, New Hope Midcoast has stood alongside survivors, offering safety, resources, and hope across Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo counties.

Reaching a milestone like 4.5 decades of dedicated advocacy isn't just about looking back at how far we've come but about celebrating the strength of our community and recommitting to a future free from domestic abuse. We couldn't have made it this far without supporters, volunteers, and neighbors like you!

To mark this special anniversary, we’d love for you to join us at two memorable community events!

⚠️ CYCLOSPORA CASES REPORTED IN MAINE

Maine CDC is reporting an increase in cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite called Cyclospora.

As of August 7, Maine has had 27 confirmed and probable cases this year. Ten of those cases were associated with produce connected to a multistate recall of iceberg lettuce.

Symptoms can include:
• Watery or frequent diarrhea
• Stomach cramps, bloating and gas
• Nausea
• Loss of appetite or weight loss
• Fatigue
• Sometimes fever, headache, vomiting or body aches

Symptoms can last for weeks if untreated and may seem to go away and then return.

Reduce your risk: Maine CDC recommends thoroughly washing fresh produce under clean running water before eating it, even produce labeled “prewashed.” Washing may reduce risk but may not completely remove Cyclospora.

If you are experiencing severe or prolonged gastrointestinal symptoms, especially following possible exposure to recalled iceberg lettuce, contact your health care provider.

Time to apply for LIHEAP! MaineHousing's online application is OPEN. The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP, also commonly called LIHEAP) helps eligible Maine homeowners and renters with home heating costs and may also help with electric bills, weatherization, and heating-system repairs or replacement.

For the 2026–2027 season, applications opened August 3, 2026 and will continue until funds are exhausted or May 29, 2027. Eligibility is based primarily on household size and income. Applicants need to provide documentation such as household member information, proof of income, recent energy/utility bills, and information about their heating source.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is partnering with a national platform called Treatment Connection to help Mainers find treatment for substance use and mental health in their area.

With over 500 treatment services listed on the site, the search tools at Treatment Connection make it easy to find and contact local treatment providers. DHHS continues to work with agencies to add treatment services for substance use and mental health. With just a few clicks, you will be able to search for people and programs that can help you.
