You may have seen recent headlines about hantavirus, but for most people, the risk remains very low. Hantavirus is rare and is most commonly linked to exposure to rodent droppings, urine, or nesting materials in enclosed spaces. It does not spread easily from person to person in the U.S.

The best prevention steps are simple:
✔️ Avoid contact with rodents and their droppings
✔️ Avoid touching live or dead rodents.
✔️ Do not disturb rodents, burrows, or nests.
✔️ Wet -clean droppings with disinfectant — avoid sweeping or vacuuming dry droppings
