Hey conservation district employees if you’re attending the NACD annual meeting in San Antonio, here’s a great opportunity to attend a training event.

We are proud to present an in-person, conservation district employee training at the NACD Annual Meeting in San Antonio. Presenters will share successful education programs and resources that can be brought back and replicated in your district. You will not want to miss this energizing training!

A manure safety and applicator training will take place on Wednesday, January 21 from 1 – 4:30 PM at the Canisteo American Legion. Priority for this training will be given to the CAFO farms first. If there are any open seats available, then they will be on first come first serve basis. Registration is required at https://form.jotform.com/amz65/manure-applicator-training.

The Steuben County Soil & Water Conservation District office was closed on January 1-2. It will reopen on Monday, January 5.

On December 8, the Steuben County Soil & Water Conservation District recognized the Dwi-Bet Farm as the 2026 Cooperator of the Year. This recognition was highly deserved for their environmentally conscientious stewardship and innovative farming practices. This farm has utilized district programs to implement best managements practices. The farm is forward thinking and embraces new technologies to enhance farm & environmental goals.

At the Highway Superintendent Association on December 18, Town of Wayland Highway Superintendent Ray Theigles was recognized for Best Management Practices installed within infrastructure systems, as well as supporting the district on project implementation and donating heavy equipment when needed. Jeff Parker thanked all highway departments for their continued support to the district.
Congratulations to Ray T. on his recognition.
