The Board of Trustees continues to violate the Open Meetings Act, and admits it in this memo. ALL SEVEN APPLICANTS need to be interviewed in an Open Meeting by the full board, with notice to the public so they can attend. Please attend the special meeting on Monday and ask the board to interview all the applicants. A committed only makes recommendations, and interviews are required to be in meetings open to the public.

The Township Board is ERASING PUBLIC RECORDS! The Downtown Development Authority section is GONE from the Township web site with no explanation. The videos and Development Plan are no longer available on line. It is part of Bath's history. The Trustees ran on a promise of transparency in government. This stinks!

The suit to reinstate the volunteers on the Downtown Development Authority needs your statement of support! The Township Board is now trying to reduce citizen oversight by consolidating other boards. There should be more citizen oversight - not less.

We are asking for statements of support to present as affidavits to the court, which means they need to be notarized. If you can help, please contact Will White at 517-903-6040. Specifically, we need people to state * How the Board of Trustees subverted the Downtown Development Authority * If you se...

After much searching, Leone Law Associates has agreed to represent the DDA in our suit against the Bath Township Board of Trustees.

The attorney fees could reach several thousand dollars, and several people have stepped up to pay the initial retainer. Donations for the legal fund are welcome. White Bros. Music set up a PayPal button for donations in $20 increments if you are able to help.

The Bath Board of Trustees will meet Monday, August 2, and go into closed session to discuss the suit and Motion to Intervene. If they have any common sense, they will appoint a new DDA Board - which will make the suit moot.

That would save us both some attorney fees! Thank you for your support!

The Court is being asked for a Writ of Mandamus which would require the Board of Trustees to appoint a new Downtown Development Authority Board and...

The Bath Senior Center, Fire and Police stations are all in the DDA district and can be improved with its funds. The Township could use some of the DDA increments on the Senior Center expansion requested for years. They are sitting on over $150,000!

The DDA is not some mysterious entity. It is your friends and neighbors working together to make things better. You can find their names in the Project Team on Page 1 of the DDA Plan shown. You will even see the name of current Trustee Fewins-Bliss. The Development Plan was approved unanimously January 7, 2013.
The DDA is not “just another layer of government we don’t need”. It is more like a “Department of Downtown Improvement” – providing a service like the Department of Public Works, and using dedicated community volunteers like Parks & Rec. The word *Authority* scares people, but it means they have advantages other departments do not, like dedicated funding. These three Departments, along with the School Board, Bath School Museum Committee, and many others worked together to plan the improvements at Couzens Park cancelled by the Board of Trustees.
