Va**ng and substance use among youth is rising fast in East Baton Rouge Parish, and we cannot afford to ignore what that means for our children, families, schools, and communities. Prevention is no longer optional—it is necessary.
Intentional Prevention: Planting Seeds is a proactive program designed to address substance use before it escalates among middle school, high school, and college students. In partnership with the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office, youth who are expelled or caught va**ng, using illegal substances, or found with drug paraphernalia are referred to our program for support, education, and intervention.
At Set Free Indeed Ministry, we believe every young person deserves help, hope, and a second chance—not judgment.
Through this program, youth and families receive:• Substance use assessments• Evidence-based education• Individual and group sessions led by licensed mental health professionals• Peer support• Family support services• Treatment referrals when needed
Using the evidence-based Planting Seeds curriculum developed by Dr. Art Kleinschmidt, we focus on prevention, early intervention, mental health, trauma, emotional intelligence, life skills, coping strategies, and community connection.
This is more than a program. This is intentional work to stop addiction before it grows deeper roots.
We are not just responding to the problem—we are planting seeds of hope, healing, accountability, and healthier futures.
Prevention is key, and we must address these issues before they get further out of hand. We are grateful for every young person who chooses to step into this program and every parent and guardian willing to walk alongside them on the journey toward healing and growth.
One conversation. One intervention. One seed planted at the right time can change a life forever.
