Open Discussion: Plumbing Licensing Transition

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors(LSLBC) will host an open discussion regarding the transfer of licensing and regulatory authority for the plumbing trade from the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana, pursuant to Act 908 of the 2026 Legislative Session.

OFFICE RELOCATION NOTICE

Effective September 1, 2026, the administrative offices of the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana (SPBLA) will be located at:

Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC)
600 North Street
Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802

This office relocation is part of the transition established by Act 908 of the 2026 Regular Legislative Session, which transfers the duties and responsibilities of the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana to the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors effective January 1, 2027.

The State Plumbing Board of Louisiana will continue conducting business through December 31, 2026. Licensing, renewals, inspections, examinations, and all Board operations will continue without interruption during this transition period.

IMPORTANT EXAMINATION NOTICE

All written and practical examinations will continue to be administered at the Board's Baton Rouge and Shreveport testing locations through December 31, 2026, as currently scheduled.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO LOUISIANA PLUMBING LICENSEES

Please note that the transfer of licensing and regulatory authority does not take effect until January 1, 2027. The State Plumbing Board of Louisiana will continue operating as normal through December 31, 2026.

To help ensure a smooth transition, please make sure your plumbing licenses and endorsements are current. Renewal for the 2027 licensing year will begin October 1, 2026, and we encourage everyone to renew as early as possible.

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) will host a public meeting regarding the upcoming transition:

And the ones who have seen just about every email address imaginable..and keep a straight face through it all.

They answer the calls, keep the schedules straight, solve the problems, and make it all look easy even when it’s anything but.

To our administrative team: we see you, we appreciate you, and we couldn’t do this without you.

And to our licensees, this day is possible because of you, too. Your hard work, long hours, and dedication to your craft allow us to do what we do and take care of our families as well. That does not go unnoticed, and it certainly does not fall on deaf ears.

Big congratulations to Alexander Corbin, 5th Year Plumbing Apprentice with Local Union 141 out of Shreveport, for earning 1st Place at the Louisiana–Mississippi State Apprenticeship Competition!
