C&E Deputy Secretary Stephen Swiber and Office of Energy Executive Director Amanda McClinton recently attended the Utility Power Reactor Incremental Scaling Effort (UPRISE) Workshop in Baton Rouge, hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Louisiana State University (LSU). This opportunity marks the next step in Louisiana’s efforts to move the state’s Nuclear Strategic Framework from strategy to action by building on recent efforts like the Louisiana Nuclear Strategy & Supply Chain Summit held last month in New Orleans.

UPRISE Workshop attendees took part in conversations with industry, state and federal leaders, technical experts, and more on the rising demand for nuclear energy, the role of nuclear energy in positioning Louisiana for continued energy dominance, and opportunities to expand the nation’s nuclear energy capacity by capitalizing on significant DOE UPRISE program funding.
