Louisiana Farm Bureau leaders were honored to join U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden, Gov. Jeff Landry, Congresswoman Julia Letlow and other officials yesterday in Donaldsonville and Waggaman to celebrate billion-dollar investments in domestic fertilizer production.

At full capacity, the two facilities will produce enough fertilizer to support more than 21 million acres of corn.

While farmers across the country will benefit, we’re especially proud to see this production returning to American shores and bringing significant investment and opportunity to Louisiana’s economy.

August recess tours continue, yesterday featuring Congressman Troy A. Carter’s (LA-02) Legislative Director Zach Monroe. Zach asked Louisiana Farm Bureau for a firsthand learning experience around the pasture mealybug, a sugarcane pest he’s been working on federal solutions for from D.C.

From the LSU AgCenter Sugar Research Station to in-field learning with State Board member Matthew Gravois and his certified crop adviser, Zach got an in-depth look from those on the front lines researching how to protect one of Louisiana’s leading crops from this new and troublesome pest.

This is the Farm Bureau network at its best, working every day to protect the future of our food. Thanks to Zach and Congressman Carter for giving their time and attention to issues impacting Farm Bureau members!
