DA Moore spent the weekend outside! From the Total Health for Men Seminar at Mckowen Baptist Church, where conversations about men's mental health and wellness took center stage, to Rep C. Denise Marcelle's Juneteenth Freedom Day celebration, to Senator Regina Barrow's annual Flag Day Parade honoring our veterans and military community.

Beyond the celebrations, our attorneys and support staff are regularly present at resource fairs, in intervention programs, and across the parish. We are all proud to represent this city.

Though it won’t bring her back or fill the void, we are grateful for the father and extended families of sweet Neveah to now have some justice.

BATON ROUGE — Lanaya Cardwell was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in prison in connection with the death of her 2-year-old daughter after prosecutors argued to the judge that the mother had no remorse for what she had done.

Today, our staff wore orange in honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. The movement began with friends of Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old killed by gun violence in Chicago in 2013, who wore orange to honor her life and raise awareness.

As a DA’s office, we are committed to justice for victims and safer communities for everyone. Thank you to our team for standing with survivors today. 🧡

Our Office was proud to join the Brookstown Stop the Violence Community Walk, another community-led effort to show EBR residents they are not alone and have the support of our city. We had great conversations about how our respective offices can help, passed out free snowballs from Kona Ice, and danced in the street.

Walks like this put a visible show of support in neighborhoods that need it most, and our Office is committed to keep showing up.

Thank you to the BR Office of Violence Prevention for organizing, alongside Mayor-President Sid Edwards, Baton Rouge Police Department, Louisiana State Police, East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office, City of Baton Rouge Constable’s Office, and EBR Readiness High School for hosting.

Memorial Day is dedicated to honor the brave men and women who died while in the performance of military service to the United States.

As we're in this long weekend, we hope you find time to pause and reflect upon the many service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
