Hiding Behind The Mask was started to bring about awareness to Domestic Violence in August 2015. It has since then expanded its' area of outreach. We have come to the conclusion that although domestic violence is a rather large issue, there is so much more that that we need to bring about awareness to. As the saying goes, "Hurt people, Hurt people." This is a rather true statement. How many people
do you know have volunteered to share their hurts that they hold deep down in areas that not even they can feel? In our research, this answer comes to a very few. With Hiding Behind the Mask we want to shed more light on the unspoken. We do this by allowing others to see things and people from many walks of life in other prospectives outside of those that are stereotypical. On a daily basis we pass by many people not knowing the challenges they face. One could be hiding abuse, the other suicide, another homelessness, and another could very well be being bullied while the neighbor has a home but not a light to turn on in it. When we see these people, we are so quick to judge instead of lending a helping hand. This is where we come in and help others know that it is OK to open up and allow others to come in. We want them to know that there are others going through the very same things and they don't have to hide. They can began removing their mask one by one or layer by layer. Some of us are the way we are not because we chose to be, but because it's all we know. Hiding only makes it worse and also hinders us from living the life that God has graciously blessed us with. Whatever it is, no matter how big or small, Hiding Behind the Mask wants to help. This goes deeper than we can ever imagine.
