LCTA - The Internet & Television Association is located in Louisiana's capital city, Baton Rouge, is the trade association for Louisiana's cable telecommunications industry. The Association was founded in 1968. Association membership is primarily comprised of System (Active) and Associate members. System members are the cable systems operating in Louisiana. There are presently 10 system members se

rving over 1 million customers and the Associate membership continues to grow. A Board of Directors, comprised of System and Associate members, guides the direction of the association, and the day-to-day management of the Association is the responsibility of CEO Cheryl P. McCormick.

“If savings is the desired goal, cord-cutting is not truly an apples-to-apples comparison,” says Louisiana Cable and Telecommunications Association CEO Cheryl McCormick. “Consumers are finding that to receive a remotely equivalent service to cable requires multiple subscriptions—and that doesn’t even include the hardware.”

Companies like Cox Communications are offering new pay-TV options to keep customers, but they win either way through the delivery of internet services.

Earlier this year C-SPAN launched their newest iteration of the C-SPAN Bus undertaking a 14-month 50 Capitals Tour. They recently made stops in Topeka and Baton Rouge, two of the five state capitals Cox serves. Cox took advantage of the opportunity to gather with elected officials, generate positive media attention, introduce C-SPAN's teaching resources to educators and citizens, promote the C-SPAN nets are now in HD and strengthen Cox's connection to and support of C-SPAN.

Here's a brief report on each:

Topeka, KS

Multiple media hits, including local NBC affiliate WVLA-BTR News at 5, Baton Rouge Proud and local reporter Elizabeth Crisp of The Advocate spent the morning with the crew and tweeted extensively from the Capitol stop.
