Bipolar disorder is not the same as the normal ups and downs every kid goes through. Bipolar symptoms are more powerful than that. The illness can make it hard for a child to do well in school or get along with friends and family members. The illness can also be dangerous. Some young people with bipolar disorder try to hurt themselves or attempt su***de.

Therapeutic Foster Care is a temporary placement in a certified therapeutic foster home for children and teens that have impairments in their ability to function within their own families, in school or in the community. These children may have cognitive or behavioral problems and often need support and supervision to help manage their health, welfare, and safety. Therapeutic foster parents complete special training to enable them to do the best possible job caring for a child.
