The Walk of Honor Foundation moved its antique fire hose cart to the lobby of the State Fire Marshal's building today. It will be on display for visitors to the office to see a piece of history and honor our fallen heroes.

This hose cart is from the late 1800's and served in Frederick County, Maryland where the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial is located. It was donated to the Louisiana Fallen Firefighter Memorial by the O'Brien family who live in Frederick County. The cart was refurbished by the combined efforts of the Metal Fab Guys, Monceret's Fine Woodworking, the St. George Fire Department Special Services Division and Chief Michael K*k.

The cart was used for the first time at the 2026 annual memorial ceremony to display the 11 names of those added this year to the Wall of Honor. It will be used at all future ceremonies. Stop by the Fire Marshal's office to see it in person.

Thank you Chief Adams for your continued and generous support of the Memorial!

A big shoutout to our dispatchers who work in the background making our communities safe. We honor them at the Memorial with our Call Box monument. The Call Box and Q Siren are used to start our ceremonies. Thank you for all you do.

We’re proud to recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week once again (April 12–18, 2026). 💛📞

As this week continues, the New Orleans Fire Department takes another moment to acknowledge the dedicated professionals who answer the call—day and night.

Our communications staff and our partners at Orleans Parish Communication District-OPCD remain the critical link between our community and emergency responders. Their calm voices, quick thinking, and professionalism make a difference in every situation.

Thank you for your continued service and commitment. 👏🚒

Good morning, several of us were able to visit with Mr. V. J. yesterday as we held our steering committee's after action meeting via zoom. Mr. V. is doing well and sends his love to everyone.

Some highlights of the meeting:
1. Our 2027 annual ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2027.

2. We will will develop sub committees this year to better address various topics, such as Honor Guards, Technology, and Promotion.

3. Expand the Wall of Honor to be able to add names of our fallen brothers not currently on the wall. We currently have 158 names but we know of possibly another 80 historic names we don't have. This project is our number one priority and we will be getting estimates and quotes in the upcoming days. Stay tuned..

We also met with Fire Marshal Bryan Adams after the meeting to discuss his support in improving the Memorial grounds. Initial discussion is to add a concrete walkway throughout the monument area on the left side of the Memorial and to have the fountain run 24/7. Chief Adams has already improved the landscaping and added a lawn sprinkler system for the grounds. Thank you Chief.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who made our 2026 ceremony a success. Our network of people involved is steadily growing and nothing could be accomplished without the hard work of these men and women and the support we receive from their departments and our fire service and corporate partners. If you are interested in joining with us or would like more details of what is going on, please message us. Never Forget.

Wanted to share that the Memorial gained another great supporter this week, the Louisiana Firefighters Foundation. Their mission to provide fire and life safety training to not only firefighters but to civilians as well, saves lives everyday. Met with Foundation Special Events Director Kyle Shuford this week to receive their generous donation of $1,000 to help maintain the Memorial. Thank you Kyle
