Louisiana Sea Grant is proud to support the 2026 Gulf Resilience Community of Practice Annual Meeting, taking place November 16–18, 2026, at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

Since 2009, the Gulf Resilience Community of Practice has brought together extension professionals, educators, researchers, nonprofit organizations, and local, state, and federal partners from across the Gulf Coast to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and build more resilient coastal communities.

This year's meeting will feature engaging presentations, networking opportunities, field experiences, and practical discussions focused on preparing Gulf communities for coastal challenges.

This scholarship supports LSU graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in fields tied to Sea Grant's mission of furthering the wise and sustainable use of ocean and coastal resources. Eligible disciplines include (but aren't limited to):

Biology & Ecology
Geology & Fisheries
Environmental Science
Coastal Resiliency & Design
Natural Resources Economics
Environmental Education
Disaster Preparedness, Extension & Resiliency

Applicants must be full-time LSU graduate students in good academic standing, enrolled in departments conducting Sea Grant-related research and extension.

The video highlights the causes of hypoxia, how scientists monitor these conditions, and the impacts of low oxygen on our reef fish fisheries.
