Louisiana supports our law enforcement officers. Thanks to Rep. Villio and Gov. Landry, that support will now be extended to a reserve officer’s spouse and children if they are killed in the line of duty.

Act 608 ensures financial security for the families of reserve law enforcement officers that lose their lives on the job, like we already do for their full time counterparts.

🏛️ NEW LAW PASSED: Protecting the Families of Our Reserve and Auxiliary Officers

Louisiana has officially enacted Act 608 (House Bill No. 12) during the 2026 Regular Session, expanding critical financial protections for those who step up to protect our communities.

Sponsored by Debbie Villio State Representative and a dedicated coalition of lawmakers, this vital legislation amends state law to provide crucial survival benefits for reserve and auxiliary law enforcement officers.

🔍 What This Means:
Expanded Protection: Secures financial security and survival benefits for the surviving spouses and children of reserve or auxiliary law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Line of Duty Coverage: Applies to tragic incidents occurring while the officer is responding to emergencies, assisting the public, or traveling to/from work in an authorized agency vehicle.

Our reserve and auxiliary officers put on the badge and risk their lives alongside full-time personnel—it is only right that their families receive the same peace of mind and financial security.

Thank you to the authors and the legislature for standing behind all of Louisiana's law enforcement families! Thank you to Governor Jeff Landry for signing this important legislative.

Louisiana was the first state in the nation to challenge former President Joe Biden’s attempt to rewrite Title IX and force a radical gender ideology on schools across Louisiana and the country. This unlawful rewrite would have imposed burdensome requirements on our schools, threatened the First Amendment rights of students and teachers, and undercut the rights and opportunities of the very people Title IX was adopted to protect.

Thank you, Attorney General Liz Murrill, for standing up and leading the fight against the Biden administration’s unlawful attempt to force radical gender ideology on our schools.

VICTORY: The Biden Administration's radical and unlawful 2024 Title IX Rule is finally and completely dead.

Two years ago, I fought the Biden administration all the way to the Supreme Court when Joe Biden tried to rewrite Title IX by allowing men in girls' bathrooms and locker rooms—and I won in the landmark Department of Education v. Louisiana decision. I'm dismissing that suit because the Biden Title IX Rule is finally and completely dead. This is a win for women and girls everywhere! ⚜️🇺🇸

At 6:30 AM on June 6, 1944, American soldiers began landing on Omaha Beach.

They came ashore under brutal fire, facing fortified bunkers, anti-tank obstacles, machine gun and mortar nests, minefields, and barbed wire.

The cost was staggering. 2,501 Americans were killed on D-Day. But by nightfall, American forces had helped secure a foothold in Normandy and began the march that would lead to the liberation of Europe.

Today, 82 years later, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and resolve of the Americans who stormed those beaches.

When violent criminals endanger the public, prosecutors need every available tool to pursue justice.

HB 102 delivers exactly that.

Thanks to Republican leadership in the Legislature, heinous crimes like the shooting at the Mall of Louisiana will now carry a more appropriate penalty.

Public safety matters. Accountability matters. Justice matters.

A new law inspired by the Mall of Louisiana shooting that killed Lafayette teen Martha Odom will expand the circumstances under which prosecutors can pursue first-degree murder charges.
