You are invited to attend the Ronald Reagan Newsmaker Luncheon at 12 noon this Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry and Republican candidates for United States Congress from the 5th Congressional District. The Reagan luncheon is held at Cafe Americain, 7521 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge.

The Secretary of State will discuss Louisiana's election schedule this year and progress toward acquiring new voting machines.

Nancy Landry is Louisiana’s 45th Secretary of State, having been elected on Nov. 18, 2023. She served as First Assistant Secretary of State for four years and prior to that for 12 years as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from Lafayette. During her service in the House, she served as Chairman of the House Education Committee and authored a number of important pieces of legislation. She is a graduate of the LSU Law School. She worked for Westlaw publishing and for the 15th Judicial District Court before practicing family law.

All major Republican candidates for Congress from the 5th Congressional District have been invited to the forum, including Sens. Rick Edmonds, Mike Echols, and Blake Miguez . Misti Cordell has a commitment in Monroe and will not be able to come.

The meeting is open to public and members of the media.

Lunch is $25, which is paid to the restaurant as one enters. No charge for working media. It is not necessary to RSVP.

The luncheon is sponsored by the Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish and the Louisiana Republican Assembly.

The meeting is broadcast live at Central City News on Facebook.

MEET THE CANDIDATES FOR CONGRESS

The Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge Parish invites you to Meet the Candidates for Congress from the 5th and 6th Congressional Districts. Four candidates will speak at the Chamber EBR meeting at 12 noon on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026:
• Sen. Rick Edmonds, Republican candidate for Congress from the 5th Congressional District
• Monique Appeaning, Republican candidate for Congress from the 6th Congressional District
• Larry Davis, Republican candidate for Congress from the 6th Congressional District
• Rev. Peter Williams, Republican candidate for Congress from the 6th Congressional District

The meeting will be held at Café Americain, 7521 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge. Lunch is $25 payable to the restaurant. Lunch is complimentary for working media.

The Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge Parish is dedicated to the free enterprise system, limited government, limited taxation, safe streets and neighborhoods, and traditional family values.

THE MONTHLY REPUBLICAN LUNCHEON IN SHREVEPORT was held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, featuring Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux, the first Republican mayor of Shreveport in 27 years. The meeting was emceed by Caddo Parish Republican chairman Louis Avallone. It was not broadcast.
