You are invited to attend the Ronald Reagan Newsmaker Luncheon at 12 noon this Tuesday, March 10, 2026, with Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry and Republican candidates for United States Congress from the 5th Congressional District. The Reagan luncheon is held at Cafe Americain, 7521 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge.
The Secretary of State will discuss Louisiana's election schedule this year and progress toward acquiring new voting machines.
Nancy Landry is Louisiana’s 45th Secretary of State, having been elected on Nov. 18, 2023. She served as First Assistant Secretary of State for four years and prior to that for 12 years as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from Lafayette. During her service in the House, she served as Chairman of the House Education Committee and authored a number of important pieces of legislation. She is a graduate of the LSU Law School. She worked for Westlaw publishing and for the 15th Judicial District Court before practicing family law.
All major Republican candidates for Congress from the 5th Congressional District have been invited to the forum, including Sens. Rick Edmonds, Mike Echols, and Blake Miguez . Misti Cordell has a commitment in Monroe and will not be able to come.
The meeting is open to public and members of the media.
Lunch is $25, which is paid to the restaurant as one enters. No charge for working media. It is not necessary to RSVP.
The luncheon is sponsored by the Republican Party of East Baton Rouge Parish and the Louisiana Republican Assembly.
