The Food Bank of Central Louisiana is asking for the community’s support on May 12th as it joins America’s letter carriers and Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, in the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Hosted each year by the National Association of Letter Carriers, Stamp Out Hunger is the largest single-day food drive in the country. The food collected in central Louisiana will be distributed through the Food Bank of Central Louisiana.

Central Louisiana residents can join the Food Bank of Central Louisiana and support community members who struggle with hunger by simply collecting non-perishable food items and leaving them in a sturdy bag near their mailboxes on May 12th. A letter carrier will collect the donations and deliver them to the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. Items will then be distributed to those facing hunger right here in our community.

Nearly one-in-four Louisiana children don't know where their next meal might come from.

Thanks to Representative Patricia Haynes Smith and the Louisiana House of Representatives for passing House Bill 284, ensuring that all children can receive a nutritious meal in their schools!

Legislation aimed at ensuring public school students are not punished because of school lunch debts won approval Wednesday night in the Louisiana House.

As Louisiana's Food Banks distribute fresh produce through partner agencies and programs across the state, more research emerges on the critical links between food and health.

The right kind of diet may give the brain more of what it needs to avoid depression, or even to treat it once it’s begun.

"The food bank gives us healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, so I don't have to eat as much of the starchy foods like I used to. The extra help has made my diabetes much easier to manage. My health has really improved." - Pat.

Eating healthy can be expensive and fresh produce might not be available. This is where a local food bank can step in and help people like Pat.

Louisiana Food Bank Association Board President Natalie Jayroe was honored this week as Feeding America's 2018 Dick Goebel Public Service Award winner for her commitment to ending hunger in Louisiana and across the country.

Congrats and thanks to Natalie for her service and leadership in the fight to end hunger!

Congratulations to our President & CEO Natalie Jayroe! Yesterday, Feeding America awarded Natalie the 2018 Dick Goebel Public Service Award for outstanding commitment to ending hunger in our community and across the country.

The award was announced at the 2018 National Anti-Hunger Policy conference, a gathering in Washington, D.C. of anti-hunger advocates, sponsored by Feeding America and the Food Research Action Center (FRAC).

Feeding America President Matt Knott remarked during the presentation, “Natalie has spent more than 20 years in the food bank world, serving in capacities that range from founder, board member, and currently President and CEO. Over the years, her extraordinary leadership has been critical in getting her community through times of crisis. From the significant Katrina disaster response, to the BP Oil Spill, and the 2016 flooding, Natalie has helped those she serves as well as her fellow network members in difficult times.”
