HB617 by Mandie Landry (D-New Orleans) passed the House floor 🎉. HB617 would require companies to disclose the use of “junk fees” upfront.

The House Health and Welfare Committee has some…interesting priorities. Unfortunately HB946 was not one of them. HB946 by Mandie Landry (D-New Orleans) would have required hospitals to disclose pricing information before offering treatment.

HB750, by Rep. Vincent Cox III (R-Gretna), passed out of the Senate Commerce committee this morning. 🥳 This bill would require companies to make it just as easy to cancel a subscription as it is to sign up for one.

Three bills could’ve made groceries for Louisianans cheaper and more fairly-priced failed to pass or were deferred in House Commerce Committee this week.
 
House Bill 800 by Rep. Alonzo Knox failed to pass, while House Bill 471 by Rep. Edmond Jordan and Senate Bill 362 by Sen. Royce Duplessis were deferred after heavy opposition. We hope to re-visit these policies in the future.

House Bill 750 by Rep. Vincent Cox passed off the House floor Monday evening. House Bill 750 would require companies to provide a method for cancelling subscriptions that is easy, timely, and cost-effective, among outlining other consumer protection.

House Bill 750 by Rep. Cox (R-Gretna) would require companies to make ending subscriptions as easy as signing up for them, and to make cancellation available through the same method as sign up—so if you sign up online you can cancel online.
