Our mission is to seek out and find the highest quality young men and women to take up the challenge to earn the title of a United States Marine. In order to continue maintaining the high Marine Corps and Department of Defense quality standards and attain a diverse entry-level population representative of national demographics, we strive to enlist only the best and the brightest youth of America. We seek individuals who are mentally, morally and physically qualified to be transformed into Marines and foster our “Elite Warrior” culture. Each applicant must embrace our Core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. This philosophy is our ethos. The Marine Corps offers a wide variety of enlistment programs from aviation electronics to infantry, and we offer qualified men and women the opportunity to see if they have what it takes to earn the title of Marine. In turn, we imbue young people with traits that will help make them successful throughout their lives, such as leadership, a strong sense of teamwork, dedication, and sound decision-making skills -- traits that any future employer will find valuable. We also understand that recruiting and retaining a diverse force is vital to the success of the Corps, both today and tomorrow. Maintaining a Marine Corps that is representative of the society it protects remains a priority for our Corps.

Has someone ever said something to you that completely changed the way you saw things?
Luckily this happened to me when my SgtMaj said something along the lines of “All promotions, and accomplishments all the way to the rank of Sergeant were done through YOUR hard work and effort as a Marine. You’re a Staff Sergeant now, so things are different. It’s not longer about you, it’s no longer about what work YOU necessarily do. It’s about the success of YOUR Marines. You get judged based off the success of them, and if you do your job correctly, they will perform to the standard you’ve set. Thus, leading them to success and you’ll become successful.”
Again, this wasn’t 100% what he said, but this is what I grabbed from It. It was something that was truly inspiring and changed the way I view things...

You might be asking why is this relevant to the post. The Marines I had the honor of commanding in RSS BR made me truly appreciate the role I had and the words my SgtMaj told me. They never let me fail, they did what was required of them, and then did MORE. They weren’t average, and they made ME look good. I didn’t do anything, It was all them.
These awards are from their efforts. The work they have done to ensure I don’t fail is something I will forever be indebted to. Thank you Marines.

The Marines of and led the Poolees this morning in a successful Pool Validation and IST. Very pleased with the performance of each Marine, and their Poolees input today. We will never settle for “good enough”. And we will come stronger next time around. There’s something humbling about seeing the next generation of Marines show up, and put out! Even better closure of the day because of us being able to break bread due to the efforts of catering the event!

Take a second to look to your left and right. What do you see? Only you can truly see if the people around you are there to make you better or not. When I look to my left and right I see what I could put into one word... And that’s family. I can confidently look to my left and right and say surround myself with Marines who want me to be better, at the same time want to better themselves. I see a sense of pride that I haven’t felt more than anywhere else in the Marine Corps. I see frustration towards each other because we know we can always do more. Most importantly, I see LOYALTY. Sometimes It really hits me that I’m almost done with this duty, and it’s a bitter sweet moment. I will miss this family, the sense of importance, the level of brotherhood.

There’s no better feeling than watching your Marines get promoted.. The amount of heart, blood, sweat, and tears that this Staff Sergeant of Marines puts in his Pool is unmatched. SSgt Taylor I am beyond proud of you and couldn’t have asked for a better Marine to be on the team. From one 🐐 to another, thank you for making MY job easier. I OWE you a thank you because of the hard work you do and your level of effort. Now with all this being said,
