What a joy to celebrate the first graduating class of our Job Readiness & Financial Education program with The O’Brien House Recovery Center!

We are incredibly proud of these nine graduates who have worked hard, grown in confidence, and taken important steps toward a brighter and more stable future. 👏

And we had two graduates who couldn’t be with us for the ceremony—because they were already at work! 🙌 That’s the kind of success we love to celebrate!

At the Christian Outreach Center, we believe that meaningful change happens when people are equipped with the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need to move forward.

🎉 Celebrating New Beginnings! 🎉

We’re proud to celebrate the graduation of our latest Job Readiness & Financial Education class in North Baton Rouge—and we’re especially excited to recognize our first-ever graduating class in partnership with The Grove!

Over the past several weeks, these participants have invested in their futures by building practical job skills, strengthening their financial knowledge, and taking meaningful steps toward long-term self-sufficiency.

Congratulations to each graduate on this incredible achievement! We can’t wait to see what God has in store as you put these new skills into action.

This week, our Christian Outreach Center Job Readiness class held mock interviews, giving participants the chance to practice answering real interview questions, build confidence, and receive valuable feedback before meeting with employers.

For many, a successful interview is the first step toward stable employment, financial independence, and a brighter future.

A huge thank you to Grace Life Community Church for serving alongside us this week through our Grocery Assistance Program! Your willingness to volunteer is making a real difference for families throughout our community.

Each week, together with our incredible partners, we help ensure that neighbors facing food insecurity receive nutritious groceries delivered right to their homes. We are especially grateful to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for providing the food and to DoorDash for helping make home delivery possible.

When churches, nonprofits, and community partners come together, lives are changed.

Thank you, Grace Life Community Church, for being the hands and feet of Christ and for helping us bring hope, dignity, and practical support to those who need it most.

At The Christian Outreach Center, Job Readiness is about more than preparing a résumé—it’s about creating pathways to meaningful employment.

One of the ways we do that is by bringing employers and workforce training partners directly into our classes, giving participants the opportunity to learn about careers, ask questions, and connect with organizations that can help them take the next step toward self-sufficiency.

We’re grateful to recently welcome ResponsAble, EmployBR, and the Baton Rouge Health District for sharing valuable employment and training opportunities with our participants. These partnerships help bridge the gap between job seekers and the resources they need to build brighter futures.

Thank you to each of these organizations for investing in our community and helping our neighbors move from hardship to hope.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth—a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and reminds us of the God-given dignity and worth of every person.

At The Christian Outreach Center, we believe that all people are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with compassion, respect, and love. As we reflect on the significance of freedom, we are reminded that true and lasting freedom is found in Jesus Christ, who brings hope, reconciliation, and new life.

We give thanks for the progress that has been made, acknowledge the work that remains, and pray that our community would continue to grow in unity, justice, and love for one another.
