This week we welcomed students from 2 area high schools for a visit to the Baton Rouge Metro Airport. Prairieville High School and Live Oak High School. Our officers answered questions then demonstrated the capabilities of our ARFF trucks.

🛫 Flying out of BTR this week? Here’s some good news.
Thanks to our dedicated Transportation Security Administration - TSA partners security wait times at the Baton Rouge Metro Airport remain normal and unaffected by the partial government shutdown impacting some larger airports.

If you’re checking bags, we still recommend arriving about 90 minutes before departure. That gives you plenty of time to park, check your luggage, breeze through security, and start your trip stress‑free.

🛬 Heading home soon?
Be sure to check your departure airport’s website or social media for their recommended arrival times, as conditions may vary at larger hubs.

This past Saturday we held our Triennial Full Scale Mock Exercise. During the exercise we stress test our ability to respond to aircraft emergencies. We cannot respond effectively without the help from multiple outside agencies. So we’d like thank all of our mutual aid partners who include but are not limited to: Baton Rouge Fire Department, Baton Rouge Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office, East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services, Baton Rouge Constable’s Office, Central Fire Department, St. George Fire Department, CATS, Acadian Ambulance Alsen-St. Irma Fire Department, District 6 Fire Department, MOHSEP, GOHSEP, Brownsfield Fire Department.
