Thinking about trying assistive technology before making a purchase? LATAN can help! šŸ’™

Through LATANā€™s Device Loan Program, Louisiana residents with disabilities or functional limitations can borrow assistive technology devices and equipment to try at home, work, or school.

Device loans can help you:
āœØ Explore what works best in your everyday environment
āœØ Make more informed decisions before purchasing
āœØ Avoid unnecessary costs or device abandonment
āœØ Gain confidence in choosing the right AT support

Eligible participants include Louisiana residents with disabilities or functional limitations, organizations that support them, and their employers. Devices may be borrowed for a small fee.

Everyone deserves a voice. Proloquo is an augmentative and alternative communication app designed to help individuals with speech challenges express their thoughts, needs, and ideas more confidently.

This AAC tool may support people with autism, cerebral palsy, and other speech-related disabilities by turning selected words or typed text into speech. With customizable vocabulary options and an easy-to-use design, Proloquo can be tailored to fit a personā€™s age, daily routines, and communication needs.

Proloquo can also be a helpful resource for caregivers, educators, and support professionals working to create more inclusive communication opportunities at home, school, work, and in the community.

The Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network, or LATAN, supports people of all ages with disabilities and functional limitations across Louisiana. Through device demonstrations, equipment loans, training, funding guidance, technical assistance, and more, LATAN helps individuals, families, caregivers, and professionals explore tools that support independence at home, work, school, and in the community.

Assistive technology can include everything from mobility supports and communication devices to screen readers, adaptive computer tools, daily living aids, and other solutions that make everyday tasks more accessible.

At the Louisiana Assistive Technology Access Network (LATAN), we believe everyone deserves access to the assistive technology (AT) they need to live, work, learn, and participate more independently.

LATANā€™s financial support services can help make AT more affordable and accessible. šŸ’™

šŸ” AT Lease Program
Need a device now but cannot pay the full cost upfront? LATANā€™s AT Lease Program offers zero-interest leases with flexible options, including:

ā€¢ Traditional leases renewable every 6 months
ā€¢ Lease-to-own options with terms up to 24 months
ā€¢ No penalties if you need to cancel

Devices valued between $150 and $20,000 may qualify. You may also be able to move from leasing to owning, with payments counting toward ownership.

šŸ’³ Revolving Loan Fund
LATAN also offers a line of credit of up to $10,000 to help individuals with disabilities purchase assistive technology with manageable monthly payments. This option may be helpful for people with fixed incomes or limited credit history.

Whether you need to lease, borrow, or explore funding options for assistive technology, LATAN is here to help you take the next step.
