Hey Battle Creek groups and agencies, here is an opportunity to submit a proposal for a group presentation
Battle Creek Regional History Museum
Submit a presentation proposal for the Michigan Underground Railroad Heritage Gathering! The Michigan Freedom Trail Commission and the Michigan History Center are seeking presentation proposals for the ninth annual Heritage Gathering, a conference for those interested in our state's Underground Railroad heritage.
The theme for this year's gathering is Battle Creek and Beyond: Preserving Underground Railroad Freedom Stories. Hosted at Kellogg Community College on Sept. 12 , the 2026 gathering is an opportunity to share local stories that are little known or understudied.
Submitted proposals should share state and local Michigan Underground Railroad stories of both freedom seekers and activists, as well as examples of how communities have recovered and promoted these stories.
Proposals for group presentations should be a maximum of 500 words and individual presentations should not exceed 300 words. All proposals must be accompanied by brief biographies of the participants that highlight their connection to the topic and contain contact information for every presenter included in the proposal.
Please send proposals by April 30, 2026, to Sheri Giffin at [email protected].
