Important ways to protect against mosquito borne diseases:
✔ Use an EPA registered insect repellent
✔ Wear loose fitting clothing
✔ Avoiding peak mosquito times around dawn and dusk
✔ Examine your yard and any outdoor space. Do not leave any standing water like puddles, bird baths, flower containers, especially small containers that can easily be overlooked. If it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes.

October is Infant Safe Sleep Month in Michigan, highlighting how babies can sleep safely at every sleep, not just at night. It is also Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month. We want to educate caregivers on how to prevent sleep-related deaths. To keep babies 0-12 months of age safe while sleeping at night and during naps, families can request education assistance and a free Pack-n-Play (for families that qualify) from the CCPHD Health Educator at calhouncountymi.gov/safesleep
