Ribbon Cutting for New Benches on the Calhoun County Trail

Emmett Township and the Calhoun County Parks Department invite local media to a ribbon-cutting event celebrating the installation of six new benches along the Calhoun County Trail. These benches were funded through County parks millage dollars from Emmett Township. One of the benches honors the memory of John Harris, an Emmett Township resident known for his active service on the Parks Committee. Please join us for remarks from the Harris family, as well as Emmett Township and Calhoun County Parks, and a ribbon cutting and photo.

Event Details:
Date: Thursday, July 30
Time: 8 a.m., with remarks to begin at 8:15 a.m.
Location: Please park at the Ott Biological Preserve south trailhead, located at 1129 Olive St., Battle Creek. It’s a short walk to the first bench on the Calhoun County Trail where the event will take place.

Background:
Emmett Township parks millage funds paid for the installation of six benches along the trail. One bench serves as a memorial to John Harris, recognizing his contributions to the Parks Committee and his commitment to civic engagement. The remaining benches display acknowledgment that they were provided by the residents of Emmett Township. Parks millage funds also supported the placement of metal signs on the disc golf course at Kimball Pines and the dredging of the boat launch at Historic Bridge Park.
