Emmett Historical Preservation Committee In January of 2025, Emmett Historical Preservation Committee was formed.

The goal of the committee is to see that the long & changing history of Emmett Township be honored through preservation, restoration & education.

The Calhoun County Vietnam Vetrans group chapter 313 would like to make everyone that lives in proximity to Harper Creek schools that the American Huey helicopters will be flying overhead the 21st-23rd from 11 am to 5 pm each day. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸🪦❤🤍💙🪦 LATE POST but GREAT POST🪦❤🤍💙🪦🇺🇲 🇺🇸 June 20 brought together 18 incredible volunteers who showed an amazing amount of love, dedication & respect to Sandstone Cemetery. This workshop saw more stones rise from the dirt, new bases poured, stones repaired & yard work done. What an honor to celebrate 🇺🇲 America's 250 years 🇺🇸 by giving back to the pioneers of our beloved Emmett Charter Township ❤🤍💙

🇺🇸 On this day, in 1833 Michael Spencer purchased 160 acres of land from the United States government. Two years later he generously donated 1 acre to be laid out as our first cemetery. What was originally known as the Michael Spencer Burying Ground, we now refer to as our beloved Sandstone Cemetery. It was an amazing moment to watch Mr. Spencer's beautiful blue vein marble gravestone once again stand straight & level. 🪦❤

🪦❤ Beautiful weather!! Great people!! Amazing progress!! ❤🪦 Emmett Charter Townships 191 year old Sandstone Cemetery saw some incredible progress last Saturday. Once again, guided by Bobbie Watson Mathis, we raised 14 headstones from the the dirt, began repairs on at least 7 headstones & leveled others. This preservation project is truly a blessing to be a part of!!
