On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, portions of the City of Battle Creek water system were placed under a boil water advisory as a precaution, as follows:
-Main Street, from Enwood Street to Massachusetts Avenue
➡️ The City of Battle Creek has determined it is no longer necessary to boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking, cooking, or other household uses.
➡️ Follow‑up water sampling confirms that no coliform bacteria are present in the water supply.

❗Active Boil Water Advisory - Main Street (as of Friday, Aug. 21, until further notice)❗
The City of Battle Creek has shut down a portion of the water system for improvements or repairs. When work requires system pressure to be reduced below a certain level, there is a potential for bacteria to enter the system.
These bacteria are generally not harmful and are common in the environment. As a safeguard to public health, the City of Battle Creek is advising residents to boil their water before consuming it.
This boil water advisory is in effect for the following location(s):
🚱 Main Street, from Enwood Street to Massachusetts Avenue
The City of Battle Creek advises that you boil your tap water before consuming it. Bring all water to a rolling boil for one full minute, then allow it to cool before use. Bottled water may also be used. Use boiled or bottled water for:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Food preparation
➡️ This is a precautionary boil water advisory that the city often does for planned or emergency work that requires the depressurization of water mains.
➡️ This particular boil water advisory is due to the connection of new water mains in Post Addition along Kingman Avenue (part of the ongoing major water and street improvement project in the Post–Franklin neighborhood.)
