This week we celebrate the last meeting for President Michael Ernest. He will spend a few minutes looking over the past club year – what we’ve done and where we’ve gone as our club continues to make a difference in our community.
And Thanks to Vincson Green, program coordinator of “Teach One to Lead One,” who shared with use how this nationwide program has effectively provided in-school mentoring Vincson gave a detailed and moving story of the programs’ positive impact on the life of a high school student, Peyton. At the heart of Teach One to Lead One program objectives, K-12 and juvenile youth are increasingly inspired and motivated to grow up into responsible decision makers who embrace integrity and honor as part of their identity

BG Rotary Club is proud to announce two Battle Ground High School scholarships awarded to Emet Ordway and Hudson West. They join Ascha Nielson from CAM for a total of three scholarships awarded by BGRC in recognition of their hard work, character, goals, and commitment to their future career paths.
Emet Ordway will attend El Camino College to pursue an Associate of Science in Fire and Emergency Technology while continuing to play football and earning his EMT certification.
Hudson West plans to study Engineering at George Fox University, with the goal of professional licensure and a particular interest in sustainable design within sports equipment development.

Tonight at our BGRC meeting, we welcome our guest speaker Vincson Green, program coordinator of “Teach One to Lead One,” a nationwide program that provides school approved mentoring to students from Elementary through High School in support of their self confidence and potential.

This morning, several BG Rotarians, and a couple of Lewis River Rotary youth worked on the corner of SR 503 and Eaton Road in Battle Ground to tidy up the corner sign. This is our first installment of beautifying that corner for the summer. It will be too hot the next couple of days to plant new flowers, but the plan is to plant in orange and black BGSD colors and have it looking nice before Harvestfest in July. There is a grander plan for the future , so watch this space.

On Sunday, Battle Ground Rotary celebrated our 25-26 year, with a great afternoon of fun, fellowship, food and frivolity. Outgoing President Michael Ernest recognized his outgoing board and committee chairs, and Incoming President Lori White presented President Michael with a memento to remember his year! We are the FUN club!
Two Paul Harris Fellows were awarded to Sean Miller and Jessica Ambrose.

Last Wednesday's meeting,Aliah Waterman, from Strive NW, .nw, provided information about their programs to help youth with disabilities become more independent. Then on President Michael and Vocational Chair Stacey attended the CAM High School Seniors awards, to award a scholarship to Ascha Nielson, one of the three seniors that BGRC has awarded for next year's school.

Last week in rotary our own Sarah Gracey shared her life’s journey, which included faith, growth, and service! We’re so proud to have her as a new member in our Club. And Becky Hanenkrat received her eighth Paul Harris fellow from President Michael. This
week, our speaker will be Alian Waterman, Training and Compliance Specialist for Strive Northwest (www.strivenw.org). Strive Northwest provides early learning, pediatric therapy, and employment services for children and adults with disabilities or developmental challenges, aiming to build self-reliance through personalized support.
