📣📣📣 PLEASE BE ADVISED!!! 📣📣📣
We have had several that have been scammed from paying online sites claiming to help with your Passport process prior to bringing it into the Clerk’s Office for processing.
THIS IS A SCAM!
All Passport paperwork is FREE online at travel.state.gov or in our office. This website is the ONLY trustworthy site regarding Passport information and forms. All fees for New Passports will not require payment until you come into our office for processing.

Parents: Don’t let lack of preparation ruin your family vacation. Children under 16 must apply in person for a passport at one of our 7,500+ acceptance facilities. Both parents/guardians must be present or provide a Statement of Consent (Form DS-3053). Passports for kids under the age of 16 are valid for 5 years, not 10, so make sure to check the expiration date before booking travel. Learn more at travel.state.gov/passport

ATTENTION: Please note the following information regarding passports.

- Expedited prices have changed for the US Dept. of State. Please view these price changes on our website: www.applingcountyclerkofcourt.com

- Also, please beware of SCAM websites accepting payments for passport applications. We have seen several applicants who have been charged for passport applications and claiming that they accept payment for the fees. The only passport website to trust is www.travel.state.gov and all applications are free of charge. All payments must be paid to a Passport Agency to process applications except for Expedited passports. This process is in detail on our website also.

Office closed Wednesday, January 22, 2025 - Thursday, January 23, 2025

Please see attached Order Extending Judicial Emergency signed by Judge Scarlett.

We will update as we are informed on the re-opening of our office. We hope everyone stays safe and warm!

Post by the Appling County Board of Commissioners:

After examining multiple county roads and seeing the moisture/snow still in place, and the potential for refreeze tonight due to extremely low temperatures, all County offices will remain closed on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025. Multiple crews with the Road Department are working hard to decrease the amount of ice buildup on asphalt roads; please keep them in your prayers; stay safe and stay warm.

PLEASE BEWARE of scam websites claiming to offer “Personalized Passport Instructions.” These websites are charging money for resources that are free on travel.state.gov. Passport applications are free online or at our office.

This does not apply to Hand-Carry and Courier Services for travelers with urgent travel who can’t go to a passport agency. However, travelers will need to confirm the courier company is approved by visiting travel.state.gov/couriercompany.

If you or someone you know has been scammed, you can complain to the company to request a refund, contact your credit card provider, or contact the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov and IdentityTheft.gov.
