Dear Editor,
Recently while talking with some hikers at Window Cliffs State Natural Area, I found that they had no knowledge of private groups that support Tennessee State Parks and Natural Areas. With that in mind, the following is submitted:
In Tennessee there are:
59 State Parks: https://tnstateparks.com/about/find-a-park
84 State Natural Areas:
https://www.tn.gov/content/tn/environment/program-areas/na-natural-areas/list-of-natural-areas.html
and 5 future state parks: https://tnstateparks.com/about/future-state-parks
Please note that some State Parks and State Natural Areas overlap each other or are very close to each other.
Currently there are 51 organizations that support State Parks and Natural Areas.
Here in Putnam and White County, we have the Friends of Burgess Falls State Park and Window Cliffs State Natural Areas.
This Friends group can be found at https://www.facebook.com/BurgessFalls and at https://friendsofburgessfalls.com/ .
