A great day of learning in Lansing!

Our Director of Workforce Development, Sara, recently spent the day in Lansing as part of the SVSU Henry Marsh Institute for Public Policy. The day included a political leadership panel, legislative aide panel, lunch with legislators, a tour of the State Capitol and a lobbyist panel.

Experiences like this give Sara a firsthand look at how policy is shaped in Michigan while building connections with state leaders. That insight helps strengthen our work on behalf of Bay County businesses and workforce needs.

We’re proud to have Sara representing the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and bringing what she learns back to support our members and community!

Turn up the volume, Great Lakes Bay Region — this Member Spotlight for Cumulus Media is all about the voices, stories, music, and moments that keep our community connected!

You’ve probably tuned in to their stations — WHNN 96.1, Wheels 104.5, 102.5 WIOG, and Z93 — reaching listeners across 36 counties. Whether people are commuting, working, or looking for a quick escape during the day, radio offers entertaining, unskippable content that continues to connect in a powerful way. Cumulus Media also helps businesses grow through digital advertising, giving companies the ability to target new customers and clients with precision.

But Cumulus is not just on the air; they are in the community. From supporting nonprofits and raising awareness for important causes to bringing business partners, listeners, and community members together, Cumulus shows what it looks like to use media for good with events like the Covenant Kids Radiothon, Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf Outing, and Coats for Kids with the Salvation Army.

Chamber membership is a natural fit for Cumulus. They are deeply connected to the community and committed to serving it, so being visible and accessible where community and business leaders gather is important. The Chamber gives them a place to build relationships, meet mutual needs, and continue supporting the region alongside other local businesses.

Reach out to Cumulus to start a conversation about how they can help you grow your visibility and reach new customers through radio and digital advertising!

Great news for Bay City!

Today, local leaders joined the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to celebrate a new all-time high for recycling in our community. Bay City households recycled 1,396 tons of material in 2025, a 50% increase since 2022!

The event also included the dedication of the Michael and Sandy Buda Bay City Recycles Drop-off Center, recognizing their longstanding commitment to civic and environmental stewardship.

Congratulations to the City of Bay City and our residents on this exciting community milestone!

For LEACIF, accounting is not just about looking at numbers. It is about understanding the stories behind them.

Founded by Kareyna Miller in 2014, LEACIF works with businesses on taxes, advisory services, mergers and acquisitions, and the everyday questions that come with running a business. Their team takes a hands-on approach, helping clients think through decisions, solve problems, and better understand what is happening in their business.

That personal approach is what makes them stand out. Whether a client is trying to run a report, clean up a process, consider buying a business, or figure out the next right step, LEACIF is the partner that can guide those decisions.

Kareyna describes the firm as an extension of their clients’ teams. They are there for the numbers, but also for the conversations, ideas, questions, and challenges that come with growth.

LEACIF originally joined the Chamber to get connected, and that has become an important part of their experience in growing their business. Membership has helped them step beyond their day-to-day work, hear from other business owners, and build relationships throughout the local business community.

Their advice to other businesses? “Join the Chamber!” For LEACIF, membership has been more than a place to network; it has opened the door to new connections, meaningful conversations, and a stronger sense of being part of the broader business community.

We are proud to share that Bay Area Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Magen Samyn recently joined the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce as the guest speaker for its Women Working Together Breakfast.

The morning brought together an incredible group of women for conversation, connection and shared learning. It was also a great reminder of just how connected our communities are, with many conversations uncovering ties back to Bay County and the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Thank you to the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce for the invitation and for creating opportunities that bring women together to connect, learn and support one another!

Congratulations to McLaren Bay Region on the ribbon cutting for the new Center for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation!

Located at 3190 E. Midland Road, the renovated facility expands access to orthopedic and rehabilitation care on the west side of the region. The center includes nine patient rooms, in-house X-ray services, and on-site physical and occupational therapy.

This investment expands McLaren’s services across Bay City while complementing the care already available at its Uptown location, giving patients throughout the region greater access to high-quality care close to home.

Congratulations to McLaren on this incredible project!
