🚧 Public Informational Meeting – Henry Street (Vermont Street to Jenny Street)

There will be a public meeting on Thursday, September 17th at City Hall in the Commission Chambers on the 2nd floor. Doors will open at 4:00 pm. There will be a brief overview at 4:00 pm, and then the public will be able to review the plans and other information, as well as ask the project staff questions until 5:00 pm. The project includes a plan to change the geometrics from four through lanes to two through lanes and a two-way center turn lane.

Address for the meeting is the City of Bay City, 301 Washington Avenue, Bay City, MI 48708.

🚧 SMITH STREET 🚧

Starting on Friday August 28th, there will be a water truck on site to keep dust control down while Dans is waiting to start paving. Dans is anticipating having a crew on site mid this week to start placing topsoil and doing restoration. Dans has Pyramid scheduled to start paving the week on September 21st and will continue to keep the road graded and using the water truck to keep the dust down until the base course is paved.

🚧 9TH WARD CDBG SIDEWALK PROJECT 🚧

Affordable is working at a good pace removing the marked-out areas of sidewalk, ADA corners, and curb. The crew is working right behind tare out to set forms, grade, and compact for the of new concrete. After the new concrete is placed and forms are removed, the crew cleans up any materials then placing topsoil and seed.

🚧 SMITH STREET 🚧

As of the end of last week, all concrete work on Smith St. has been completed. This includes all sidewalks, driveway approaches, and ADA corners.

Dans Excavating is not working on Smith St. this week to allow the newly placed concrete to properly cure. Over the next few weeks, Dans Excavating will begin preparing Smith St. for paving. Paving is currently scheduled for around the end of August or early September, with restoration work to follow.

🚧 9TH WARD CDBG SIDEWALK PROJECT 🚧

Affordable Contracting began saw cutting the sidewalks and curb last week and has now started removing the sidewalks, ADA corners, and curb and gutter in the sections scheduled for replacement. The crew began at Joseph St. and Smith St. and is working south toward Marchand St. and east toward Ottawa St. Forms have already been set in several areas, and the crew will begin pouring concrete. The crews will continue following the standard replacement process: removing the damaged areas, setting forms, grading and compacting the base, and pouring new concrete.

🚧 SMITH STREET 🚧

Dans Excavating is working on grading for driveway approaches and sidewalks. As of yesterday, the concrete contractor is on site beginning to pour the new driveway approaches. Dans crew continues working ahead of the concrete crew to have the approaches and sidewalks ready to be pour. Concrete work should be done in next few weeks, weather depending.

Please be advised there will be additional street closures in Downtown Bay City on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, related to National Night Out in Wenonah Park. Our Streets Division will be closing the streets early Tuesday. Impacted streets include:

• N. Water Street between 5th Street and 6th Street
• Center Avenue between N. Water Street and Saginaw Street

National Night Out (NNO) is hosted by the Bay City Department of Public Safety. The event is from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, however, set up begins earlier in the day. Parking for NNO is available throughout Downtown Bay City with additional parking in the parking structure at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bay City – Riverfront hotel.
