Today we are highlighting, Staff Sgt. Katelin Bahten.

This Taylorsville, Georgia native started shooting multi-gun competitions when she was just 13 years old. And after developing and proving her skills on the range, she joined the U.S. Army in 2014 after being recruited to the Home of Champions’ Action Shooting Team.

“I knew I would have better resources at the USAMU, not only for shooting, but for continuing education and pursuing my degree. I knew the Army could give me everything I needed and wanted in life,” said Bahten about her decision to become a .

While on the Action Shooting Team, Bahten proved her skills by winning the Ladies Champion title at the 2014 Surefire World Championships, the 2015 Rocky Mountain World Championships and the 2015 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals.

After a few years on the Action Shooting Team, Bahten widened her marksmanship skills on the USAMU Service Pistol where she competed in bullseye and action pistol style competitions.

While on the Service Pistol Team, Bahten set two records: the 2017 NRA Bianchi Cup Barricade event AND the action pistol international rapid fire event!

The USAMU not only provided Bahten with a number of these marksmanship accolades, but it also introduced her to a fellow Soldier and marksman, Staff Sgt. David Bahten, who has since become her husband in 2016.

When Bahten became pregnant with her first son, she took a break from the range and used this opportunity to develop her Soldier skills by becoming the training noncomissioned officer for the Home of Champions. At the same time, Bahten began to utilize the Army eduction program and started college courses. Bahten has since earned an Associate’s Degree in mathematics and science and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
