12th St - Tack Oil Spraying

Please be advised that tomorrow, beginning at 8:00 AM, the Street & Bridge Department will be applying tack oil along 12th Street as part of ongoing roadway improvements.

Tack oil can adhere to tires and may damage a vehicle’s paint or exterior if driven over while the material is still wet. For this reason, we ask all motorists to avoid traveling on 12th Street while barricades are in place and use an alternate route until the roadway has been reopened.

Please do not drive around or move any barricades. They will remain in place until crews determine the roadway is ready for traffic.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our crews work to complete these roadway improvements safely and efficiently.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Municipal Services Building at 979-323-1659.

Pipe Bursting Project- Lane Closures on 6th St

Over the next several weeks, contractors will be pipe bursting the sanitary sewer main along 6th Street, beginning at Ave B and continuing through Ave F.

While work is underway, contractors will close one lane at a time to complete the project safely and efficiently. Traffic will still be able to travel through the affected blocks; however, access may be limited, and motorists should expect delays.

We ask motorists traveling through the area to use caution, reduce speed, and follow all posted signage and traffic control measures for the safety of both crews and the public.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure work is completed.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the Municipal Services Building at 979-323-1659.

PUBLIC NOTICE
WATER TREATMENT PLANT ACTIVITY ON EAST HWY 35

Motorists traveling along East Highway 35 near the new Water Treatment Plant may notice a large amount of water being discharged on the north side of the highway. While this activity may appear to be a significant water leak, there is no cause for concern.

Contractors working on the new Water Treatment Plant are currently flushing the facility’s new groundwater storage tanks. This flushing process is a planned and necessary step in preparing the tanks for disinfection and testing scheduled for next week.

During this work, residents and motorists in the area may continue to see substantial amounts of water being discharged into the ditch. This is part of the normal commissioning process for the new infrastructure and is not the result of a water main break or other emergency.

We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as this important work continues, and the new Water Treatment Plant moves closer to completion and operation.

For questions or additional information, please contact Public Works at 979-323-1659.
