New Micromobility Safety Rules 🚨

We would like to notify all BHI families of a newly adopted Town ordinance regulating e-scooters, e-bikes and e-motorcycles.

Under the new rules, no one under age 16 may operate these devices in Bay Harbor Islands.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to review the ordinance with children and teens before the school year begins. Together, we can help protect students, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers throughout our community.

Know the new rules. Start the school year safely.

Congratulations to Explorers Juan Hurtado and Sam Lebedev on successfully graduating from Summer Explorer Academy #69 on Friday, July 17, 2026! 👏🎓

Over the course of two challenging weeks, Juan and Sam demonstrated dedication, discipline, and teamwork while completing intensive physical training and gaining firsthand knowledge of the law enforcement profession.

Throughout the academy, they explored a wide range of topics, including:
🚓 Traffic Stops
🕵️ Crime Scene Investigations
💻 Fraud & Scams
💪 Defensive Tactics
🏠 Burglary & Robbery Investigations..and much more!

Designed for teenagers ages 14–18, the Explorer Academy provides an inside look at what it means to be a Law Enforcement Explorer.

In addition to classroom instruction and hands-on training, our Explorers proudly assisted with several community events, strengthened their leadership abilities, and built lasting friendships through teamwork and collaboration.

We are incredibly proud of Juan and Sam for their hard work and commitment, and we look forward to watching them grow as members of the Bay Harbor Islands Police Department Explorer Program.

Please join us in congratulating them on this outstanding achievement! 🎉👏
