Love- A-Child Missions

Love- A-Child Missions Love-A-Child Missions is a homeless recovery shelter for women and children. We are located in Bay Point, CA. The question is, are you willing to help?

What we do:

Our strategy focuses on healing the whole family by providing emergency housing, nutrition, clothing, recovery services ( from substance abuse and battery), parent education classes and counseling with daily faith based studies. We work to bring together the County Court system, local churches, educational institutions, and health care providers in our holistic approach to recovery an

d to provide a nurturing, environment for the children's educational and recreational needs. Through these partnerships with the community our hope is the build self-sufficiency, promote healthy living and restore the confidence and dignity of all the women and children of Love-A-Child Missions. A word from the Founding Director:

Imagine for a moment, the bitter cold of winter, late at night, and the phone rings. On the other end of the receiver you hear the crackling voice of a crying woman. As you listen between her cries and fragmented sentences, you learn that she is frightened mother of a small child with another on the way. she has just been battered and abused for the last time, only to be thrown into the cold night with nowhere to go. As she tries to share with you her new found homelessness ad the need for help, there is a sense of desperation that grabs you heart and you can feel her pain. This is the reality for homeless women and fatherless children in Contra Costa County who live on the margins of society. It is hard to express the hopelessness and anguish a mother must feel when she is vulnerable to the real dangers that exist when one is homeless. Jerome Knott
