Hancock County Extension Office

Hancock County Extension Office The Hancock County Extension Office provides practical education you can trust.

Extension's overall purpose is education -- education that will empower people to make intelligent decisions relating to their vocations, their families, and their environment. Extension's unique interdisciplinary perspective enables the organization to make a real difference in the lives of Mississippians. Mississippi State University Extension Service is, and will continue to be, a leader for po

sitive change for individuals, families and communities through the following ways: by providing research and education in a practical and applicable way; by using the latest technology and teaching techniques to serve clients; by developing and using volunteers to help disseminate programs and information; by cooperating with other groups and agencies; and by maintaining a culturally diverse staff responsive to the needs of various audiences at all socio-economic levels. We believe that agriculture and its related enterprises are of major economic importance in Mississippi, and we will direct programs and resources to reflect this importance. We also believe that quality of life is affected by the reciprocal relationship between people and their environment and will continue to emphasize environmental issues. We recognize the critical need for human resource development and will continue to search for ways to help families and youth cope with an ever-changing society.

Welcome to the New Year! We would like to introduce our new Hancock County Agriculture and Natural Resource Agent, Nathan Pulliam to the MSU Extension Family!

With over 15 years of involvement in 4-H youth programs and development, I am extremely excited to bring all of my knowledge and personal experiences to help lead the youth of Hancock County. Growing up I was extensively involved in 4-H showing livestock. After my time was up, I moved into a mentorship role for families helping and assisting them in their 4-H projects and still continue to do so to this day. I obtained my Animal and Dairy Science Degree from Mississippi State University with a concentration of Business and Industry. This allowed me to expand my knowledge deeply in not only the livestock industry, but the agriculture industry as a whole. Obtaining this degree allowed me to increase my knowledge of forages and pastures, reproduction in the animal industry, genetics and breeding selection, and many other aspects of the agriculture industry. I look forward to serving Hancock County as a leader and mentor in not only livestock program, but all other clubs and organizations within the county.-Nathan
