Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, Inc. 911 Ambulance company serving the communities of Bay Shore and Brightwaters, NY. Since January 2010, we are proud to offer 24/7 ALS coverage to our community.

Founded in 1958, Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance (BSBRA) is a volunteer non-profit organization that provides Emergency Medical Service to the communities of Bay Shore, Brightwaters and West Bay Shore. Our district is 25 square miles and has several points of interest including all major highways, Southside Hospital, Bay Shore Schools and the Bay Shore Fire District. BSBRA is separate from Bay Shore Fire Department and provides all medical care/ rehabilitation care for all fire scenes. BSBRA responds to approximately 4,000 calls a year for emergency medical assistance. Currently, we have a volunteer membership of roughly 175 members, with certifications ranging from Dispatcher to Paramedic.

On behalf of the Board and Chiefs Office, we are extremely proud to share that this afternoon our Youth Squad received the 2025 Youth Squad of Excellence Award from the New York State Volunteer Ambulance & Rescue Association and its Pulse Check Educational Conference.

This recognition reflects the dedication our Youth Squad members show to EMS and our community while balancing school, family, and obligations. Please join us in congratulating our Youth Squad members and our adult advisors who have helped make this award possible. A busy morning in Bay Shore!

Today, BSBRA volunteers were out in full force providing EMS coverage for both the annual Great South Bay Run and the Bay Shore High School football game — all while maintaining emergency coverage for the communities of Bay Shore and Brightwaters.

Thanks to an incredible turnout from our membership, we staffed six volunteer BLS ambulances, two ALS fly cars, and our Special Operations unit to support today’s events and ensure our community was covered.

Days like today showcase what volunteer EMS is all about: teamwork, dedication, preparedness, and a commitment to serving our neighbors. We are incredibly proud of every member who gave their time today. Thank You!

September 27, 2026, Bay Shore–Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance responded to a fire involving multiple vehicles at a scrap yard on Moffitt Boulevard in Bay Shore. Multiple BSBRA crews provided EMS coverage and support throughout the fire response.

The Bay Shore Fire Department, assisted by mutual aid departments, worked for more than three hours to bring the fire under control amid strong winds and rain. Thankfully no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

We thank the Bay Shore Fire Department, our fellow EMS providers, and all responding agencies for their coordinated work this afternoon. Strong work under difficult circumstance!
