🌟 INTRODUCING PROUDLY PAMLICO: STUDENT SPOTLIGHT 🌟

There are incredible young people throughout Pamlico County doing things every day that deserve to be noticed - and we want your help recognizing them!

Proudly Pamlico: Student Spotlight is a new recognition celebrating Pamlico County Schools students who make us proud through kindness, character, perseverance, leadership, service, personal growth, or simply doing the right thing when no one is watching.

Maybe you saw a student stop to help someone who needed it. Maybe a young person showed remarkable kindness, worked through something difficult, volunteered in the community, demonstrated responsibility at their job, or went out of their way to make someone else's day a little better. Maybe you've watched a student dedicate countless hours to something they love outside of school too - dance, 4-H, Scouts, church, agriculture, the arts, athletics, a job, or another activity or organization. Our students do amazing things far beyond the walls of their schools, and we want to celebrate those stories, too.

Those moments matter, too.

The plan is that each week, Pamlico County Schools will select a student to feature as our Proudly Pamlico Student Spotlight and share the story of what made that student stand out.

Who can nominate?
Anyone! Parents, students, teachers, school staff, coaches, neighbors, business owners, organizations, and members of our community are invited to submit nominations.

Who can be nominated?
Any student currently enrolled in Pamlico County Schools, (Pamlico County Primary School, Fred A. Anderson Elementary School, Pamlico County Middle School, and Pamlico County High School) Pre-K through 12th grade.

When submitting a nomination, tell us about a specific moment, action, accomplishment, or example that made you proud. Selected students will only be publicly recognized after parent or guardian permission has been received.

Because sometimes the very best things our students do don't happen on a stage, on an honor roll, or under Friday night lights.

We want to hear those stories.

As we begin this exciting new chapter, we are proud to have Pamlico County Middle School and Pamlico County High School together on one campus in the new Pamlico County High School facility.

While PCMS and PCHS now share a building which is called Pamlico County High School, they remain two distinct schools, each with its own students, staff, programs, traditions, and identity.

Throughout the year, you’ll continue to see us celebrate the accomplishments, activities, and special moments happening at both PCMS and PCHS.

As finishing touches continue, signage naming Pamlico County Middle School and Pamlico County High School will be placed throughout the school and alongside the road.

A dedication is being planned for January after construction of parking lots and landscaping is completed.

Congratulations to PCHS students Lila Mehring, Molly Appling, and Bryce DeGosio!

This summer, these three students had the opportunity to participate in the Fleet Readiness Center East (FRC East) Summer Hire Program, gaining valuable real-world experience while working alongside professionals at one of our region’s major aviation maintenance and engineering facilities.

The Summer Hire Program gives area students a firsthand look at the workplace while helping them develop professional skills, explore potential career paths, and learn more about the wide range of opportunities available at FRC East.

Lila, Molly, and Bryce were among 50 students from nine counties selected to participate in this summer’s program!

We are proud to see our students taking advantage of opportunities that allow them to learn beyond the classroom, build skills, and begin thinking about where their talents might take them next.

Congratulations, Lila, Molly, and Bryce! Thank you to Fleet Readiness Center East for this opportunity and for continuing to support our students!

Pamlico County Schools is sharing information regarding the sale of the former Pamlico County Middle School property.

We recognize that this campus holds many years of memories for former students, staff, families, and members of our community. As the district moves forward with this process, we are committed to providing clear and accessible information to the public.

A dedicated webpage has been created with information regarding the property, the sale process, important dates, requirements, and other relevant details.

Sometimes generosity comes without a name attached!

We recently received a wonderful donation of school supplies at the Pamlico County Schools Central Office from a community member who chose to remain anonymous. These supplies will be put to good use supporting students across our district as we begin the new school year.

Although we may not know who you are, we want you to know how much your kindness is appreciated. Thank you for thinking of our students and for helping make sure they have what they need to learn and succeed!

A special thank you to the Oriental Rotary Club for its generous donation to the Pamlico County High School Student Services Clothing Closet!

Kelly Messikomer, Youth Services Chair, organized the clothing drive as part of the Rotary Club’s ongoing support of Pamlico County Schools, with fellow Rotarians generously donating items for our students.

🎒✏️ Thank You, Pamlico Correctional Institution! 📚🖍️

Pamlico County Schools extends a heartfelt thank you to Pamlico Correctional Institution for its generous donation of school supplies for our students!

The donated supplies were sorted, divided among our schools, and delivered to help ensure students across the district have the tools they need for a successful school year.

From our littlest learners at Pamlico County Primary School, to Fred A. Anderson Elementary, and all the way to our students settling into their brand-new PCMS/PCHS, classrooms across Pamlico County Schools were already filled with learning, laughter, and plenty of smiles today.

And a special shoutout to the PCHS Class of 2027, who started their final first day together with Senior Sunrise and showed off those Senior Spirit Jeans!

Thank you to our students, our families, our teachers and staff, and our community for making this day something that we look forward to every single year.
