This is a great way to help our community be prepared for any emergency. Thank you to all of the entities involved with this practice event!

The Durango Airport will hold an emergency training exercise on October 7. We are seeking volunteers to act as patients while fire, EMS, and law personnel train on their emergency responses. In addition to a unique experience, volunteers will also receive a free lunch. Use the QR code on the flyer below or this link https://bit.ly/4qBnaOe to sign up today!

The Town of Bayfield is aware that some incorrect information has been circulating regarding recent tax increases, and we want to help ensure everyone has accurate details. The tax implementation being discussed is outside our municipal jurisdiction, so our office is not involved in its development or administration, nor its use. For the most up‑to‑date and reliable information, we recommend checking directly with the governing municipality responsible for this tax or visiting their official website. If community members have questions about the two newest sales tax increases, reach out to County Commission Chairman Matt Salka at (970) 382-6219 or the Upper Pine Fire District Chief Bruce Evans at (970) 884-9508.
If you have questions about policies or services within our municipality, we’re always here to help. Please feel free to reach out anytime at (970) 884-9544.

All Town Residents: In the interest of keeping our neighborhoods and streets safe and more accessible, the Town of Bayfield Police Dept. will once again be enforcing parking codes. The Code language is posted below and essentially says that no vehicle or other personal property can remain on any public right-of-way or other property owned by the Town for a period in excess of 48 hours. Property does include vehicles and any type of trailers including travel trailers.

The presence of long-term storage of property on Town streets negatively impacts property values and also restricts Town Public Works from clearing streets efficiently of snow and other debris when necessary.

The Town understands with the holidays such as the upcoming Labor Day holiday, those with travel trailers usually need a couple days prior and after the holiday to prep and then clean for long-term storage. Allowances for doing so will be considered and can usually fall within Town Code restrictions. The overarching goal is not to strictly enforce codes by citing and/or towing property away, but only if necessary and as a last result.

So, we are appealing to our residents to work with us in helping us maintain aesthetically pleasing and safe neighborhoods for everyone to enjoy by eliminating any long-term property storage from our Town's streets.
