The Bayonne Police Department was proud to once again be part of Buddy Baseball's Police Department Day this weekend!

Our officers had an amazing time spending the day with the players, families, and volunteers who make this league special. Events like these are a reminder that our department is committed to inclusion, engagement, and giving back whenever we can.

Chief Scerbo, a longtime supporter of Buddy Baseball and its mission, was also on hand to join the festivities. In one of the day's highlights, the Chief found himself being chased through the sprinklers by a few players looking to cool off on a hot day- a memory that brought plenty of smiles to everyone in attendance.

We would like to send our sincere thanks to Pete Amadeo of the Bayonne Recreation Department for his continued partnership and support. We are grateful for the opportunities they provide us to participate, volunteer, and help make a positive impact in the live of these incredible athletes and their families.

The Bayonne Police Department is proud to announce the launch of our new Special Needs Registry Initiative, a voluntary program designed to help first responders better serve and protect members of our community with special needs.

This registry provides families and caregivers with a secure and confidential way to share important information that may assist police officers and emergency responders during interactions or emergencies. Our goal is to strengthen communication, improve understanding, and enhance the safety and well-being of individuals with special needs throughout Bayonne.

The Bayonne Police Department proudly celebrated another successful LEAD Program Graduation with LEAD Day! Our graduates enjoyed an afternoon filled with food, drinks, games, dancing, and plenty of fun as they marked this important achievement.

Chief Scerbo would like to extend his sincere thanks to the Bayonne Board of Education and local sponsors for their continued partnership and support of this valuable program. The Bayonne Police Department remains fully committed to the LEAD Program and its mission of empowering young people to make positive choices and build strong futures.

During his remarks to the graduates, Chief Scerbo shared the following message:

“We are proud of you. Today's certificate not only represents your hard work, it should also serve as a reminder that you have the ability to make positive choices and achieve great things in the future. Keep learning, keep leading, and keep believing in yourselves. Remember, every great leader starts by making one good decision at a time.”

Congratulations to all of our graduates! We look forward to seeing the positive impact you will continue to make in your schools, families, and community.

“On behalf of the Bayonne Police Department, I would like to thank Pam O’Donnell and the Catch You Later Foundation for once again organizing and conducting the annual car crash simulation program. I would also like to thank the Bayonne Board of Education, Bayonne Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, and the BHS drama students for their participation and support in making this event a success.”

‘This impactful program continues to serve as an important educational opportunity for our students and community by bringing awareness to the dangers of distracted driving, as well as promoting E-Bike safety and responsible operation. Through the collaborative efforts of all those involved, we are able to deliver a realistic and meaningful message that we hope will encourage safer decisions both on the road and throughout our community.’
