Village crews continue to clear hazards. And downed trees.

The upcoming bagged yard waste will be converted to a full yard waste. More details will be forthcoming in the Bayside Buzz.

Portions of Ellsworth Park remain closed due to hazards.

Power Restoration & Storm Update

As of 1:30 p.m., approximately 50% of the power in the Village has been restored.

According to WE Energies, crews have been working in the area since approximately 2:00 a.m. Six transformers were identified as the primary cause of outages—two caught fire and two others were significantly damaged by the storm. The primary transformer damage, as we’ve been informed, is in Fox Point near the Bradley Road Substation which serves our community as well.

Some life-safety repairs required dry weather conditions before repairs could begin, which were initiated at approximately 10:00 a.m. Crews continue working to safely restore power.

The video provides just a sampling of the storm damage throughout the community—including a shed that ended up in a tree. Village Public Works crews have removed more than 15 trees from roadways and continue clearing numerous downed trees and branches from public rights-of-way, along with addressing localized flooding.

Thank you for your patience as Village crews and WE Energies continue working to address the storm damage and restore power.

Village of Bayside Public Works crews and Village personnel have been working since approximately 2:00 AM to assess, respond to, and mitigate damage from the overnight storms.

Our public safety team—including Police, Fire, and Dispatch—has also been working throughout the night and into today to address hazards and life-safety concerns and help keep our community safe.

We are currently responding to:

Numerous downed trees and branches and safeguarding downed power lines

Isolated areas of localized road and surface flooding

Blocked roads and impacts to public infrastructure

Our immediate priority is clearing trees and branches from roadways and rights-of-way and addressing hazards that may affect public safety. Crews will continue working throughout the day to clear roads and respond to damage as quickly and safely as possible.

As the USDA notes in Keeping Food Safe During an Emergency, your refrigerator will keep food safe for up to 4 hours during a power outage. Keep the door closed as much as possible. Discard refrigerated perishable food such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and leftovers after 4 hours without power.

After a power outage never taste food to determine its safety. You will have to evaluate each item separately—use this chart as a guide. When in Doubt, Throw it Out!
