The GCCISD Department of Fine Arts operates to serve students in all areas of fine arts and enrichment activities across the Baytown, Goose Creek and Highlands communities. This page serves as an extension of communication for those events, competitions, results, announcements and recognitions of our students in applicable programs (Visual Arts, Instrumental Music (Band, Orchestra), Vocal Music (C

Fine Arts are not outside the academic program. They are part of it.

In Texas, art, dance, music and theatre are grounded in the Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills—the TEKS. These standards establish what students should know and be able to do, creating a rigorous, sequential course of learning from one grade level to the next.

Texas law also includes Fine Arts within the required enrichment curriculum that school districts must offer. That distinction matters: Fine Arts are not an extracurricular reward, an expendable elective or a decorative addition to the school day. They are an essential part of a complete public education.

Strong Fine Arts programs require the same intentional support we expect for every essential area of learning: qualified educators, protected instructional time, aligned curriculum, appropriate facilities and materials, and equitable access for students.

When we treat Fine Arts as essential learning, we give students the opportunity to build knowledge, develop their abilities and experience the kind of sustained growth that only rigorous arts instruction can provide.

Fine Arts belong in every student’s education.

Goose Creek CISD has reviewed the latest weather information and participated in a regional call with local meteorologists and area officials. During the call, meteorologists advised area school districts of the potential for significant weather impacts on Tuesday. Based on their guidance and the current forecast, school and all after-school activities for Tuesday, September 1, are canceled.

District leaders will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide an update on school status for Wednesday, September 2, by 6:00 PM Tuesday, September 1.

A performance is rarely perfect on the first try. Neither is a design, a painting, a dance or a piece of music.

Students learn to listen, adjust and try again. They accept feedback without abandoning their ideas. They contribute to something larger than themselves—and understand that other people are depending on them to be prepared.

That is creativity in practice. Communication under pressure. Collaboration with real responsibility. Discipline, adaptability and resilience built through experience.

Fine arts does more than teach students what to create. It teaches them how to work.

Those skills follow students into every career, every relationship and every community they will help shape.

Strong communities need people who can listen carefully, communicate clearly and work across differences.

They need people who can adapt when a plan changes, lead without shutting others out and stay with a difficult problem long enough to find a way forward.

Students practice those skills every day in Fine Arts classrooms.

They learn when to lead and when to follow. They see a problem from another perspective. They take responsibility for their part, respond to feedback and recover when something does not go as planned.

These are workforce skills. Relationship skills. Civic skills.

When we invest in fine arts education, we are helping students become capable colleagues, thoughtful neighbors and productive members of their communities.

Strong arts help build a stronger Texas.

We are so exited to perform for you at our annual preview night on Monday at 7:30pm at Sultis stadium on campus.

The band has worked hard, worked on developing skills, learning music, learning the marching show. They are performing all of the first part of the show, which is the longest of three parts.

They are tired, they are sore, but they are doing so good and can't wait for the season to start so we can be out there entertaining you and performing this amazing show for you!

Let us know if you plan on coming out!!!
