Winter Storm Hernando Recovery & Mitigation

The storm has passed, and we are now fully focused on recovery and mitigation throughout the Borough. We recognize that this has been a challenging event, particularly for our senior residents, and we sincerely thank you for your patience and resilience as cleanup continues.

⚡ Power Outages & Wellness Checks
Some areas of the Borough remain without power. If you are experiencing an outage, please contact Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and/or the Beach Haven Police Department so you can be placed in the restoration queue.

ACE crews have been working non-stop since last evening, and in most cases power has been restored in under 24 hours.

Residents may also notify the Police Department Dispatcher if they wish to be placed on a wellness check list. Officers can then check on you periodically to ensure you are safe or take action if needed—especially for those living alone or without power.

If you require access to a warming station, please contact the Police Department directly so assistance can be arranged.

🏛️ Municipal Closures
For safety and operational reasons, the following facilities will remain closed until further notice:

Borough of Beach Haven Borough Hall

Beach Haven School

🚛 Public Works & Sanitation
Garbage pickup has been delayed so that Public Works can continue their outstanding work with snow removal and roadway clearing. There remains a significant amount of snow, debris, and downed utility lines being safely addressed throughout the Borough. South end Wednesday and North end Thursday.

Residents are asked to avoid placing trash or recycling in roadways until regular collection schedules resume.

⚠️ Safety Reminders

Stay clear of downed or low-hanging wires and report them immediately to Police or ACE.

Use caution when walking outdoors, as snow and ice conditions persist in some areas.

If using alternative heating sources, ensure proper ventilation and never use grills or generators indoors.

🌊 Coastal Conditions
There is notable beach erosion resulting from the storm. The Borough is documenting these impacts and will be coordinating with the State on appropriate mitigation and recovery efforts moving forward.

Cleanup operations are ongoing, and conditions will continue to improve. Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors who may need assistance and to reach out to the Police Department if support is needed.
