There will be a Village-wide adult mosquito control application on Tuesday evening, September 1, 2026, overnight into Wednesday, weather conditions permitting. The application will occur dusk until dawn and be performed with neighboring communities. Any Village residents wishing to be notified of future adult mosquito control applications can register for service notifications at the Clarke portal/resident hotline at https://www.clarkeportal.com/

The Lake County Health Department recommend that residents take personal protection measures to minimize mosquito bites including: using an EPA registered mosquito repellent, wearing loose fitting clothing, avoiding peak mosquito feeding times during the hours around dawn & dusk and eliminating water standing on your property. Residents are urged to examine their property and eliminate any items that can hold water, particularly smaller items that may be easily overlooked. Remember, if it can hold water, it can breed mosquitoes. Residents can report potential mosquito breeding areas (water standing for 4+ days) in their neighborhoods on the Residential Portal https://www.clarkeportal.com/hotline

August Spotlight: Back-to-School Habits & Upgraded Recycling:
With families transitioning into new fall routines, August is the perfect time to build smart disposal habits at home and in our schools.

Three Tips for a Sustainable August:
β€’ Toss Cold Drink Cups in Recycling: Thanks to expanded processing infrastructure, polypropylene plastic cups (such as iced coffee and cold drink cups marked #5) and paper to-go cups are now accepted in curbside recycling! Ensure they are empty and dry before placing them loose in your cart.
β€’ Pack a Waste-Free Lunchbox: As school begins, encourage reusable containers, water bottles, and cloth napkins. Keeping single-use plastic wrap and snack bags out of school bins helps keep organic and recycling streams clean.
β€’ Stick to the Core Recycling Rules: Remind students and residents to keep food, liquids, plastic bags, and electronics/batteries completely out of recycling carts.

The Village of Beach Park will be removing tree and brush debris resulting from damage due to the recent storms.

Residents can place their branches by the street with the cut ends facing the road and spread out evenly along the parkway. Branches must not be larger than 8 inches in diameter. To facilitate timely pick-ups, the length of the limbs and branches should be left as long as possible. Tangled piles of limbs or branches placed haphazardly will not be picked up.

The removal will be done at no charge.

HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO DISPOSE OF TIRES!

There are still a few appointment slots open!

SWALCO and the Lake County Division of Transportation, in partnership with the Illinois EPA, are hosting a free, one-day-only tire collection at the Lake County DOT Salt Dome Yard, 600 W Wi******er Rd., Libertyville. The collection will take place on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 7 am to 2 pm. An appointment is required; only one appointment per household. Residents may bring up to 12 tires (on the rim, any size or type). This event is open only to Lake County residents; tires from commercial entities will not be accepted. A government-issued ID is required at check-in to verify the appointment. Persons who arrive without an appointment will be turned away. State law prohibits the accumulation of more than twelve waste tires on a property. Waste tires left outside can collect water, creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes. One scrap tire can lead to the breeding of thousands of mosquitoes over a single season. Proper disposal of tires helps reduce the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses. To schedule an appointment, go to https://link.edgepilot.com/x/jic5h2IbLKPl9WWtPBfaACc?u=http://www.swalco.org/tires.
