😲 be weather aware everyone!

85-100 mph gusts from t-storms possible ⚠️ NEW INTENSITY CATEGORY INTRODUCED: This is an additional detail added to the Storm Prediction Center's (SPC) outlooks this year. Today's main threat is going to be damaging wind gusts with the INTENSITY 2 shaded black area in the southwest (including New Town, Dickinson, Bowman, Baker, and Wibaux) meaning that a bow echo or derecho is possible with max gusts greater than 85 mph! Timing window for this is 6-10pm CDT.
SPC discussion: "A linear cluster of thunderstorms is expected to evolve during the late afternoon into potentially a bow echo during the early evening with the severe-wind risk notably increasing and becoming more widespread. Have increased the intensity highlight from southeast MT into western portions of ND where it seems increasingly probable a swath of intense gusts ---possibly a bow echo--- is progged by a diverse array of different model cores/runs this morning... Localized peak gusts may range 85-100 mph. Considered an upgrade to Moderate Risk... This activity will sweep northeastward during the evening with a gradual lessening of the wind/hail hazard towards the early overnight as it moves east into the eastern half of the Dakotas late."

Hi everyone! As we all navigate the ongoing road construction project on Main Street and Central Avenue, we want to give a huge shout-out to all our local business owners for your incredible patience and resilience. With the new curbs and sidewalks being poured soon, and street reconstructed, parking is limited right now, and we want to make sure customers can easily access your doors. If possible, we kindly ask that business owners and employees leave the limited street parking spaces open for customers and park in alternative areas for the time being. Every open spot makes a big difference in helping our community support local business during this transition. Thank you so much for your cooperation and for helping us keep our downtown accessible!

UPDATE:
Repair has been made!

During street reconstruction an electrical line was clipped at the Central Avenue BNSF crossing. The RR cross arms are down (horizontal) at both Central and 2nd Avenue. The East crossing on Highway 16 is still available for traffic to cross. We do not have a repair timeline as of right now. We will update you as soon as we know.

Main Street & Central Avenue Update:
We know navigating town has been inconvenient lately, and we appreciate everyone’s patience through the dust and detours! Reconstruction is moving forward, and a crew is tentatively scheduled to be onsite next week to start forming and pouring the new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Hang in there—we're getting closer to a smoother ride! 🚧

Tuesday's "Did You Know" ... 🦟
Keeping your lawn neatly mowed is about much more than just neighborhood pride; it plays a critical role in local pest control and public health. When grass is allowed to grow tall and unruly, it creates a cool, damp environment that is the ultimate breeding ground and resting area for mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. Routine mowing significantly cuts down on mosquito populations right outside your door, making your outdoor spaces much safer and more comfortable for your family and neighbors.

Beyond pest prevention, regular lawn care is a matter of community safety and local compliance. Unmanaged yard growth quickly turns into a safety hazard, while also attracting rodents 🐁 and other unwanted wildlife 🐍 to the neighborhood. To keep the community clean, safe, and uniform, City Ordinance 12.0102 does not allow grass to be in excess of 8" high. Staying on top of your mowing schedule ensures you remain in full compliance with city standards, avoids costly fines and/or mowing fees, and actively contributes to a healthier, more welcoming environment for everyone on your block.
