🍎✨ Welcome to Beacon new teachers!

At yesterday’s New Teacher Orientation, Dr. Landahl welcomed the newest class of Beacon educators with two simple but powerful pieces of advice:

1️⃣ Don’t be afraid to ask for help. In Beacon, we believe in the power of teamwork. We support one another, learn from one another, and know that we are stronger together.

2️⃣ Never underestimate the power of inspiration. Look for the small moments and simple ways you can positively change the trajectory of a student’s education. Sometimes, one interaction, one encouraging word, or one person believing in a student can make all the difference.

Yesterday, Rombout Middle School welcomed their incoming sixth grade class to orientation! Students got to meet staff, practice opening lockers, find their classes and run through their schedules before the first day! Good luck Bulldogs on the start of your secondary education journey! 💙💛🐾

Exciting News! Athletic Director, Mike Carofano announced the re-opening in the BHS pool!

The pool will reopen for community use this Friday, August 7th from 7:30am until 10:30am. The pool will also be open next week, August 10th until August 14th from 7:30am until 10:30am. Valid Community Pool Memberships are required for use of the pool.

Our Aquatics Director, Ms. Michelle Green, will be in contact with active pool members with an updated pool schedule and membership information, which includes pool rules and safety reminders as well as membership extension and expiration dates. If you have a question regarding your membership or if you are interested in a pool membership, email Michelle Green at [email protected].

Congratulations to the six BHS students, Ryan, Emilio, Desmond, Isaac, Theo, and Wanang, for presenting on the “Digital Defenders” program at the New York School Board’s Association Conference in Albany.

They have been working with Dutchess BOCES and the New York State Education Department to design lessons and campaigns related to digital safety, online threats, and responsible technology use.

✨Thanks to our Computer Science teacher, Ms. Vakirtzis, for helping to facilitate this.

One special project. Two schools. Endless smiles. 💙

This year, Ms. Berger, Ms. Griffin, and Ms. Conklin (RMS) brought Pre K and 8th grade students together for a project full of creativity and kindness! After reading a story, Sargent Pre-K students designed and colored their own little monsters. The 8th grade Home and Careers students at Rombout Middle School turned those drawings into handmade stuffies!!

On the last day of school, the Pre K students received their one of a kind stuffies. The smiles said it all. Thank you to everyone who made this special project possible!
