Sooo remember how we got our CPR Certifications renewed on Friday!? Whelp, our Kensington guys put it to good use today and revived a member. 🙌🏼 Just three days later. So incredibly proud of @kavenyes who provided chest compressions and Manager Lee, who provided shock with the AED.

It is with deep sadness that we share news of the death of WVRS Life Member Kenneth Lacayo on the morning of January 24, 2022.
Kenny joined the Rescue Squad in May of 2011 and steadily advanced through the ranks. He became a firefighter in 2012, a paramedic in 2014, and a founding member of the Honor Guard in 2017. Among his many awards he received the Rescue Squad’s award for paramedic of the year in 2016 and was recognized as a top ten responder in 2015 and 2016. He also received a unit citation in 2018 for his life saving actions in responding to a pedestrian struck by a car.
His exceptional skills as a firefighter and paramedic were matched by his bright smile and his unfailing good nature. He was dearly loved by his fellow WVRS volunteers and will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kenny's family, his many friends, and his brothers and sisters in the Montgomery County Maryland – Fire & Rescue Service and the Baltimore City Fire Department.

The Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department is one with Maryland's Governor Hogan and the Baltimore City Fire Department. Our hearts are broken for the entire Baltimore City Fire Department as three of the bravest have fallen in the line of duty. A fourth firefighter was critically injured and is on life support. Each and every day, our firefighters and first responders answer the call and are ready to run into danger- this is our worst nightmare.

Help me to embrace a little child before it's too late, or save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout, and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me, to guard my neighbor and protect his property. And if according to your will I have to lose my life, bless with your protecting hand my loving family from strife.

1. Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Fire Stations do not do Covid testing.
2. The Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department in Beallsville does not do Covid testing.

This is the real Santa Ride. Look for Santa, seated on top of Engine 714. It really helps Santa if you keep cars out of cul-de-sacs so the apparatus can get through and turn around.
Greetings Poolesville!
Before UMCVFD begins the 2021 Santa Ride, we ask that everyone please review and abide by the following Station 14 house rules, as we work to keep everyone safe and healthy this Holiday season!
Please observe and respect these rules:
1.Families must remain in their own driveway or yard during Santa’s visit.
2. Gatherings are prohibited
3. Residents in cul-de-sacs and areas where Santa's sleigh cannot safely maneuver must remain in their family groups. Individual’s must wear face masks, and maintain a 10ft distance from other family groups. Individuals residing in cul-de-sacs are also asked to kindly remove vehicles, so apparatus can safely maneuver.
5. Unfortunately Santa cannot share candy canes this year. (Yes,we are aware this is one of the elves' four main food groups.)
6. For the safety of our department, and community members, we will not be able to accept goodies or donations in person during tonight’s ride. However individuals looking to support UMCVFD can do so by visiting www.UMCVFD.org to donate via the Station 14’s PayPal account.
7. Santa must continue his ride through Poolesville without stopping. Please be ready for Santa’s arrival, as we strive to visit as many residents as possible during tonight’s flight.
8. Community members can receive updates on Santa’s whereabouts by visiting the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department page. We will be posting live updates here, as well as Santa’s GPS location via our Santa Tracker. https://www.facebook.com/umcvfd/live_videos/

Dear Poolesville, Enjoy the wonderful weather at the fire station pavilion with today's co-ed softball games and the concession stand is Open. Bruster's Ice Cream Truck is here! Today's menu: (family friendly!) * Grilled All Beef Hot Dogs * Grilled Johnsonville Cheddar Pork Brats * Grilled Hamburgers & Cheeseburgers * Chips (assorted) * Soft drinks, Gatorade, & Water * Candy (assorted) * Freeze pops (assorted flavors) Come for lunch or a snack and watch the softball games.
