🚨 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING 🚨

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 9:30 PM EDT for Grainger County and portions of Claiborne, Hawkins, Hancock, Jefferson, Cocke, Greene, Union, and Hamblen Counties.

At 8:29 PM, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from the Harrogate area through near Bean Station and toward Greeneville, moving south at 30 mph.

💨 HAZARD: Wind gusts up to 60 MPH
📡 SOURCE: Radar indicated
⚠️ IMPACT: Damaging winds may cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations in or near the path include Morristown, Jefferson City, Newport, Dandridge, Maynardville, Rutledge, New Tazewell, Bean Station, Tazewell, and White Pine.

Residents in the warned area should move indoors and seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows.

🌧️ Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Never attempt to cross a flooded roadway. Turn Around, Don’t Drown!

Please remain weather aware as this line of storms moves through our area, and be prepared for possible additional warnings.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Grainger County and Bean Station Area

Thunderstorms will increase in coverage and intensity through the afternoon across the region. A few severe storms are expected, capable of damaging wind gusts and perhaps hail. A tornado or two is also possible in any supercells that can become established.

Remember that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

GRAINGER COUNTY STRONG

The past 24 hours have tested our community in ways we never hoped to see. Historic flooding has impacted families, homes, businesses, and roadways across Grainger County, leaving many facing heartbreaking losses and an uncertain road ahead.

Since the first calls came in, our Volunteer Fire Departments, Rescue Squads, Law Enforcement Officers, EMS personnel, Emergency Management, Highway Department, Utility Crews, and countless other responders have worked around the clock. From welfare checks and damage assessments to water rescues, pumping floodwater from homes and businesses, clearing roadways, and continuing to answer the everyday emergencies that never stop, these men and women have answered every call with dedication and compassion.

Our thoughts and prayers are with every family affected by this disaster—especially those who have lost their homes, vehicles, personal belongings, or have suffered significant property damage. We know the road to recovery won't happen overnight, but you are not facing it alone.

Grainger County has always been defined by neighbors helping neighbors. In times like these, we are reminded that the strength of our community isn't found in buildings or roads—it's found in the people who call this place home.

Together, we will clean up. Together, we will rebuild. Together, we will recover.

For nearly a decade, Chief Trent has faithfully served the Bean Station Rescue Squad and the citizens of Bean Station and Grainger County through her dedication to emergency services. Her commitment, leadership, and passion for helping others have been an inspiration to our members and a tremendous asset to the community we proudly serve.

Chief Trent leads with integrity, compassion, and professionalism, always putting the needs of others before her own. We are grateful for her countless hours of service and the positive impact she continues to make each day.

Training Day | Boat 1 Operations

Today, members of the Bean Station Rescue Squad, alongside firefighters from the Bean Station Volunteer Fire Department, participated in a joint training exercise with the Rescue Squad’s new Boat 1 at the US 25E/Olen Marshall Bridge Boat Ramp.

The training focused on the safe, effective, and efficient operations of Boat 1, allowing personnel from both departments to strengthen their skills while working together in a realistic training environment. Ongoing training plays a vital role in ensuring our members remain prepared to respond whenever our community needs us.

The Bean Station Rescue Squad is proud to work alongside the Bean Station Fire Department and appreciates the dedication and commitment of everyone who participated in today’s training. Partnerships like these help strengthen our emergency response capabilities and enhance the service we provide to our community.
